1. Newhart: The Complete First Season (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Was Newhart better than The Bob Newhart Show? I’ll leave other fans to debate that, but I know that Newhart certainly amuses. Season One has its ups and downs, but it succeeds much more than it falters ... There’s a lot of good material on display in this entertaining release. Starring Bob Newhart, Tom Poston. Fox, $39.98, 2/26/2008.

2. Bob Dylan - Dont Look Back: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1967)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Dont Look Back maintains a reputation as one of the all-time great rock documentaries, a factor it probably deserves if just for its innovations. Above and beyond those elements, though, it manages to provide a fairly fascinating look at a legendary artist as a young man. Starring Bob Dylan. Criterion, $39.95, 11/24/2015.

4. Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project (Collector's Edition) (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of the few remaining links to the glory days of Las Vegas, Don Rickles is still going strong in his eighties. We get a fond and entertaining look at the comedian in Mr. Warmth, a somewhat inconsistent but usually enjoyable documentary ... This isn’t a great DVD by technical standards, but it’s a good program that earns my recommendation. Starring Don

5. The Simpsons: The Complete Seventh Season (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Eventually we’ll see the decline of The Simpsons, but they downturn doesn’t occur in Season Seven. While I wouldn’t credit this year as the series’ best, it offers many more hits than misses ... I’ve recommended every prior set, so I don’t plan to stop now: Season Seven of The Simpsons would make a fine addition to your DVD collection. Created by Matt Gr

6. The Rescuers: 35th Anniversary Edition [Blu-Ray] (1977)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of the weakest animated feature films ever created by the Disney studios, The Rescuers lacks much charm or energy. Instead, it seems eminently forgettable due to its blandness. The Blu-ray provides good visuals, acceptable audio and a few mediocre supplements. This becomes easily the best home video version of a dull movie. Starring Bob Newhart, Eva

7. Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde - Special Edition (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Little more than a listless remake of the original, Legally Blonde 2 lacks any spark or creativity, and it seems like a dull and pointless affair. The DVD presents generally positive picture and sound along with a fluffy but mostly fun set of supplements. Those with a passion for Elle Woods might dig this exercise in inanity, but I can’t recommend it to

8. The Rescuers (1977)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a fan of Disney animation, I wanted to like The Rescuers, but this boring and timid story leaves me almost totally cold.

9. Elf [4K UHD] (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: By all rights, Elf should have been a crass one-note experience in tedium but the flick overcomes its inherent restrictions and turns into something charming and amusing. Much of the credit goes to a surprisingly delightful performance from Will Ferrell. Starring Will Ferrell, James Caan. New Line, $27.99, 11/1/2022.
