61. Cleaner (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With Cleaner, Renny Harlin leaves behind his action flick past and attempts a crime thriller. He doesn’t do well in this genre, as he makes a fairly boring mystery despite some interesting twists and a good cast ... I have no complaints about this release, but the movie itself leaves me cold. Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris. Sony, $24.96, 5/27/2008

62. The Abyss [4K UHD] (1989)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While not James Cameron’s strongest film, The Abyss remains a lively, engrossing adventure. It delivers involving situations and characters as well as plenty of action, all of which turn it into a mostly positive experience. Starring Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. 20th Century, $39.98, 3/12/2024.

63. 28 Days Later [Blu-Ray] (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 28 Days Later occasionally musters some scary energy, but it can’t maintain this power consistently. Enough of the movie works well to make it sporadically creepy and entertaining, but it doesn’t go beyond that to turn into anything special. Starring Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris. Fox, $9.98, 10/7/2007.

64. Gone Baby Gone (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Slam him as an actor if you’d like, but Ben Affleck shows tons of promise as a filmmaker with his directorial debut. Gone Baby Gone occasionally slips, but it usually provides a rich, involving tale that doesn’t tell the audience what to think ... This deep, thoughtful flick deserves your attention. Starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan. Miramax, $29

65. A History Of Violence: New Line Platinum Series (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A History of Violence may be one of those movies that impresses more on subsequent viewings. For my first screening, I thought the film had interesting moments but failed to coalesce into anything memorable. Although I reserve the right to change my mind, that’s how I feel at first blush ... There’s enough quality work here to merit my recommendation of

66. The Matrix Resurrections [Blu-Ray] (2021)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 18 years after the franchise apparently ended, The Matrix returned with a fourth chapter appropriately called Resurrections. While the movie maintains viewer interest, it feels unnecessary and fails to expand the series in a particularly inventive manner. Starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss. Warner, $39.98, 3/8/2022.

67. Skyfall [4K UHD] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Even when we adjust for inflation, Skyfall ends up among the three most successful Bond movies of all-time. I don’t view it as one of the three – or even five – best Bond flicks, but it overcomes a few prominent missteps to become a satisfying 007 adventure. Starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench. MGM, $69.98, 10/22/2019.

69. Vertigo: Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (1958)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Vertigo definitely is effective, but something about it simply leaves me flat. Maybe it's because the film wasn't really what I expected. While it has some of those moments, it's not a really thrilling chiller ala Psycho. That's not bad, but even though I'd seen Vertigo years ago, I wasn't quite prepared for the route it would take. Starring James Stewar

70. Vertigo: Special Edition - Universal Legacy Series (1958)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: This marks the third DVD release of Vertigo, and it’s the best. However, it’s not significantly superior to the one that immediately preceded it. Those two offer similar visuals and identical audio, though the new one loses a mono mix. Otherwise, this one differs from its predecessor solely due to a few new extras. While those components have value, they
