81. The Day Of The Jackal (1973)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I’d like to say that they don’t make thrillers like The Day of the Jackal anymore, but I’m not sure they ever did. The movie resists any urges to dwell on extraneous story or character beats. It provides a tight, compelling drama without an ounce of fat ... I like the film a lot, but this release disappoints. Starring Edward Fox, Terence Alexander. Unive

82. Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Recommendation time, and Full Metal Jacket is easy: mediocre film and generally poor DVD. Even for someone less than enthusiastic about the work of Stanley Kubrick, FMJ presents a surprisingly poor experience, and the bland quality of the DVD makes matters worse. Unless you just have to have it, stay away from it; it's not worth the money. Starring Matth

83. Ferris Bueller's Day Off: I Love The 80's Edition (1986)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: For Ferris fans, the question becomes which DVD to purchase. Both this 2008 version – which essentially duplicates the original 1999 disc – and the 2006 special edition provide picture and audio I think seem virtually identical, and they sport similar prices. That leaves the extras as the deciding factor. The 2006 SE includes more components, but I don’t

85. Where The Wild Things Are (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I can’t say how fans of the original book will respond to the cinematic version of Where the Wild Things Are, but I think it works – mostly. The film keeps us reasonably entertained and involved, but it lacks a certain magic that would make it great. The DVD offers good picture and strong audio but skimps on supplements. The movie is good enough for at l

87. Manhattan [Blu-Ray] (1979)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Frankly, I didn't think much of Manhattan. It remained largely watchable and mildly entertaining, but it seemed shallow and lacked characters or events that would interest me. TheBlu-ray delivers very good visuals and acceptable audio but lacks supplements. I’m not wild about Manhattan but feel sure that its fans will be pleased by its presentation here.

88. Young Frankenstein (1974)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I can't say I loved this movie, I found it to be reasonably funny and entertaining, and I believe it will probably be even more interesting upon subsequent viewings. Starring Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle. Fox, $14.98, 11/3/1998.

89. The Express: The Ernie Davis Story (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: At no point will you find anything surprising, daring or creative about The Express. Nonetheless, the movie does what it needs to do as it turns into an enjoyable – if predictable – inspirational sports story ... Don’t expect anything revelatory here, but The Express provides a satisfying flick. Starring Dennis Quaid, Rob Brown. Universal, $29.98, 1/20/2

90. Bobby (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: For the definition of the term “missed opportunity”, we can look at Bobby. A rambling, pointless waste of time, it totally discards all its potential to become a disjointed piece of indulgent nonsense ... While I can’t really complain about this disc, the movie itself doesn’t warrant your attention. Starring Demi Moore, Anthony Hopkins. Weinstein Company
