- 52. Taps: 25th Anniversary Special Edition (1981)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Taps is a pretty good movie that at least merits a rental. As far as purchase, should fans who own the original release “upgrade” to this special edition? I’d say no. The picture and quality remain the same, and the extras aren’t substantial enough to warrant another purchase. New fans will want to go with the special edition, though, as the supplements

- 55. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Ultimate Edition (2002)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As for the DVD, both picture and sound quality seemed very solid. Neither reached demonstration level, but both satisfied nicely. Supplements offered a decent mix of interesting elements. I suspect that most fans will be happy with the prior DVD of Chamber, but Potter die-hards will want to snag the “Ultimate Edition”. At $39.92, it’s not horribly pricey

- 56. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2003)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: My only quibble with the extended edition of The Return of the King relates to the cut of the film itself. It remains a strong movie, but I think the added bits don’t always benefit the story. Nonetheless, they do help flesh out some moments. The Blu-ray displays absolutely stellar picture and audio as well as a long, rich and enjoyable roster of supplem

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While it suffers from one bad casting choice and some pacing issues, The Great Buck Howard succeeds for one simple reason: it’s fun. It boasts a mostly great cast and keeps us engaged during its amusing ride. Starring John Malkovich, Colin Hanks. Magnolia, $16.98, 7/14/2009.

- 60. Friday The 13th (2021 Remaster) [Blu-Ray] (1980)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Horror fans owe the original Friday the 13th a debt since it heavily influenced their favorite genre. As a movie, however, it doesn’t work particularly well, as it lacks creativity and comes across as slow-paced and cheesy. Starring Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King. Paramount, $22.98, 8/10/2021.
