1. Superman/Batman: Apocalypse [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, we find a pretty average comic book adventure. It comes with an intriguing story and some decent action, but it doesn’t quite come together in the end. The Blu-ray boasts excellent visuals, very good audio and a reasonably interesting set of supplements. Expect a moderately enjoyable superhero effort. Starring Tim Daly,

2. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies - Special Edition (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While it lacks the political complexity its theme promises, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies compensates with other strengths. In particular, it throws out so much fine action that it creates a genuinely fun, exciting adventure. The DVD boasts good picture and audio but the extras tend to be lackluster, mainly because so many focus on promotional efforts.

3. Batman: Year One [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Adapted from a much praised comic book, Batman: Year One has its moments, but it doesn’t provide a lot of satisfaction. At a mere 64 minutes, it simply lacks the breathing room to develop its characters and give us a vivid tale. Starring Bryan Cranston, Ben McKenzie. Warner, $14.98, 10/18/2011.

4. Justice League: Doom [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though not the most plot-driven superhero story ever told, Justice League: Doom offers just enough story to make it interesting. It adds bunches of good action and turns into a generally exciting piece. The Blu-ray provides excellent picture and audio as well as a nice set of supplements. DC Comics fans should dig this fun adventure. Starring Kevin Conro

5. Batman: Year One (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Adapted from a much praised comic book, Batman: Year One has its moments, but it doesn’t provide a lot of satisfaction. At a mere 64 minutes, it simply lacks the breathing room to develop its characters and give us a vivid tale. The DVD offers erratic but generally good picture along with high-quality audio and a smattering of decent supplements. Bat-fan

6. My Name Is Earl: Season One (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of the 2005-06 season’s hits, My Name Is Earl brings a quirky presence to network TV. The series balances offbeat humor and heart to create an amusing and likable experience. Starring Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee. Fox, $49.98, 9/19/2006.

7. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1 [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After 26 years, Frank Miller’s legendary graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns finally gets a cinematic adaptation. Unfortunately, it suffers from some poor choices and lacks the depth/darkness to make it really succeed. The Blu-ray provides excellent visuals along with very good audio and a generally useful set of supplements. While I look forward to se

8. Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay [4K UHD] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After the disappointment of 2016’s live-action Suicide Squad, I feared the animated tale Hell to Pay would fizzle. Happily, it delivers a brisk, spunky adventure that keeps us pretty entertained from start to finish. Starring C. Thomas Howell, Christian Slater. Warner, $39.99, 4/10/2018.

9. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines [4K UHD] (2019)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Call me cynical, but I suspect Wonder Woman: Bloodlines exists primarily to prep viewers for the next Wonder Woman feature film. On its own, it comes with some decent action but the story and drama feel ineffectual. Starring Rosario Dawson, Jeffrey Donovan. Warner, $39.99, 10/22/2019.

10. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract [Blu-Ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a kid, I lacked a lot of interest in the Teen Titans, and The Judas Contract fails to alter that feeling. While the movie gives us enough action to offer mild entertainment, it never becomes anything memorable. Starring Christina Ricci, Stuart Allan. Warner, $29.98, 4/18/2017.
