111. The War Of The Worlds: Special Collector's Edition (1953)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I know that it maintains a prominent status in the history of science-fiction flicks, but more than 50 years down the road, it doesn’t offer much entertainment for modern audiences. Fans will dig this nice package, but I can’t recommend this clunker to those without a pre-existing affection for the movie. Paramount, $14.99, 11/1/2005.

112. Super 8 [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An homage to the classic Spielberg movies of the Seventies and Eighties, Super 8 displays its influences without any sense of its own vision. We get little more than a collection of references to other flicks without much to bring them together in a coherent, involving narrative. Starring Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning. Paramount, $14.98, 11/22/2011.

113. The Shining: Special Edition (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should fans who own the 2001 release of The Shining give this special edition a “double-dip”? Yes, I think so. It doesn’t necessarily improve the quality of the film’s picture, but it does give us the film in its correct aspect ratio for the first time. It also adds some good extras. This ends up as a fine DVD. Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall. Wa

114. The Shining: New Stanley Kubrick Collection (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite some nostalgic fondness for The Shining, it currently does not stand as one of my favorite Kubrick films. The movie has its moments and can generate the appropriate scares at times, but overall, I thought it lacked the flair and drama I expect from Kubrick. Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall. Warner, $24.98, 6/12/2001.

115. SCTV Network/90: Volume Two (1978)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When I reviewed Volume One of SCTV, I related my strong affection for the show, and that hasn’t changed over the last few months. Volume Two continues to fun and indeed likely improves over the earlier release. The series achieves a bit more consistency with this compilation and offers a great deal of terrific material. Starring John Candy, Eugene Levy.

116. Gangs of New York (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Enough of Gangs seems compelling for me to recommend a rental, but don’t expect a whole lot from this flick.

118. Doctor Zhivago [Blu-Ray] (1965)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (I) felt pleased with the Blu-ray. It boasted excellent visuals, solid audio and a generally nice complement of supplements. This is a top-notch release, and the picture quality was a big step up over the DVD. However, movie score fans will still want to hold onto the 2001 package; it includes an isolated score that goes missing here. That’s too bad, but

119. Casablanca: 70th Anniversary Limited Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1942)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: So what’s a Casablanca fan to do? Probably wait and hope that WB puts out this set’s first disc on its own in the not-too-distant future. While I like the documentaries on Disc Two as well as the book and poster, they’re just not worth the package’s nearly $65 list price. If you don’t care about the cost, the 70th Anniversary release will make you happy,
