31. Exodus: Gods and Kings [Blu-Ray] (2014)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Oddly dispassionate and flat, Exodus: Gods and Kings occasionally spurs to life. Too much of it lacks real drama or passion, factors that make it a slow ride. Starring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton. Fox, $9.99, 3/17/2015.

32. The New World: The Extended Cut (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I do like New World and recommend it. The question becomes whether or not fans should stick with the original theatrical version or if they should give this Extended Cut a look. For most viewers, I’d espouse the shorter edition. I think it’s the tighter take on the story, and the DVD also includes some extras absent from this set. Die-hard Terence Malick

33. The New World: Extended Cut [Blu-Ray] (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Due to my lack of enthusiasm for the works of Terrence Malick, I can’t say I expected much from The New World, but I must admit the final result satisfies. It provides a rich, often moving look at its subject and manages to avoid many of the usual pitfalls found in its genre. Starring Colin Farrell, Q'Orianka Kilcher. New Line, $14.98, 10/8/2009.

35. Terminator Salvation (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a film, I maintain a lukewarm attitude toward Terminator Salvation. On one hand, I like its many exciting action pieces, but on the other, it doesn’t have much else going for it. Only one character takes us on any sort of emotional ride, and the rest of the film leaves us feeling curiously cold. The DVD provides stellar audio, but it comes with medioc

36. The Dark Knight Rises [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While it’s too soon to objectively judge, right now I lean toward the belief that Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight Trilogy” stands as the greatest film trilogy of all-time. The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t quite match the heights of its immediate predecessor, but it comes much closer than expected and brings the series to a rousing finish. If Dark Knight wa

37. Little Women [4K UHD] (1994)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I loathed 1994’s Little Women when I saw it almost 25 years ago, I can’t maintain the same level of negative passion in late 2024. That said, the movie comes with condescending attitudes and a general lack of real movement that makes it a less than enjoyable journey. Starring Winona Ryder, Susan Sarandon. Sony, $30.99, 11/19/2024.

39. 3:10 To Yuma: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1957)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a film, 3:10 to Yuma provides a rich, involving drama with nary a misstep on display. In particular, its lead actors delight with full-bodied performances. The Blu-ray offers excellent visuals and good audio but lacks substantial bonus materials. The absence of extensive supplements disappoints, but the Blu-ray brings us the movie in fine fashion. Sta

40. 3:10 To Yuma (1957)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The absence of supplements becomes the only disappointment here. As a film, 3:10 to Yuma provides a rich, involving drama with nary a misstep in display. In particular, its lead actors delight with full-bodied performances. The DVD delivers good picture and audio, but we find virtually no extras. I like the movie enough to recommend it, but I’d feel more
