151. Westworld: Season Two [Blu-Ray] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though not quite as impressive as the prior year, Season Two of Westworld brings a fairly good run of shows. It meanders a little too much at times but still ends up as a compelling overall narrative. Starring Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright. Warner, $54.97, 12/4/2018.

152. The Color Purple [4K UHD] (2023)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Nearly 40 years after the novel’s first film adaptation, The Color Purple returns as a musical. While it comes with some positives, it still lacks much bite, and the decision to add songs makes it seem awfully perky too much of the time. Starring Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson. Warner, $39.98, 3/12/2024.

153. The Aristocats [Bu-Ray] (1970)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a Disney completist, I own a copy of The Aristocats but I won’t watch it much. It’s a bland, forgettable flick. The Blu-ray presents acceptable audio, some average supplements and an attractive transfer. This remains a mediocre film, but at least it looks better than ever here. Starring Phil Harris, Eva Gabor. Disney, $39.99, 8/21/2012.

154. Gravity [Blu-Ray 3D] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of 2013’s big critical and commercial hits, Gravity provides an unusual take on a “castaway” story. It mixes a tight narrative with strong acting and excellent visual effects. The Blu-ray delivers very good picture and bonus materials along with awesome audio. I like the movie and feel pleased with its home video representation. Starring Sandra Bullo

155. Hannibal Rising: Unrated (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If there’s any justice in the world, the Hannibal Lecter saga will end with 2007’s Hannibal Rising. A tedious and turgid “origin story”, it does nothing more than serve to obliterate our fond memories of its more successful predecessors. Starring Gaspard Ulliel, Li Gong. Weinstein Company, $29.98, 5/29/2007.

156. Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle [Blu-Ray] (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Beyond the unusual ethnicity of its leads, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle presents pretty standard teen comedy fare. It spurts out some laughs but also drags a lot of the time and never becomes much better than average. The Blu-ray delivers good but unexceptional picture and sound along with a pretty solid set of extras highlighted by three separate

157. 28 Days Later: Special Edition (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 28 Days Later occasionally musters some scary energy, but it can’t maintain this power consistently. Enough of the movie works well to make it sporadically creepy and entertaining, but it doesn’t go beyond that to turn into anything special. Starring Megan Burns, Christopher Eccleston. Fox, $27.98, 10/21/2003.

158. The Aristocats: Disney Gold Classics Collection (1970)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I'm a serious fan of Disney animation, and I'll buy every release they see fit to throw my way. It feels idiotic at times, but that's the burden that goes with being a completist. As such, I own a copy of The Aristocats but I won’t watch it much. It’s a bland, forgettable flick. Starring Phil Harris, Eva Gabor. Disney, $29.99, 4/4/2000.

159. Unforgiven [Blu-Ray] (1992)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a film, Unforgiven has some merits and offers a generally strong piece of work. The movie gives us a somewhat forced but moderately thoughtful treatise on violence; it doesn’t totally achieve its goals, but it works fairly well overall. The Blu-ray provides generally good picture and sound as well as a pretty solid collection of extras. The disc could

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Starship Troopers has its moments, but overall it fails to offer a thrilling and compelling experience.
