21. The Guns Of Navarone [Blu-Ray] (1961)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although some aspects of it appear a bit dated, The Guns of Navarone holds up well for a 50-year-old action film. The Blu-ray delivers erratic but acceptable picture along with very good audio and supplements. This ends up as the strongest home video release of the film to date. Starring Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony Quinn. Sony, $19.99, 10/18/2011.

22. How The West Was Won: Special Edition (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As one of only two narrative flicks shot with the three-panel Cinerama process, How the West Was Won merits a special place in history. That doesn’t make it a particularly engaging film, however. It always looks great, but it fails to present especially involving characters or story ... This is an impressive release. Warner, $20.98, 9/9/2008.

23. The Guns Of Navarone: Special Edition (1961)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although some aspects of it appear a bit dated, The Guns of Navarone holds up well for a more-than-40-year-old action film. The DVD provides a somewhat weak picture, but the sound appears surprisingly robust, and the package features a few interesting supplements. At the very least, Guns merits a rental, and a purchase might be warranted instead. Starrin

24. Spellbound [Blu-Ray] (1945)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Unfortunately, I didn’t think that Spellbound provided one of Alfred Hitchcock’s stronger works. Though the movie had its moments, I felt that it seemed silly and indulgent overall. The Blu-ray provides good picture and audio along with a nice set of supplements. While I’m not wild about the film, the Blu-ray treats it well. Starring Ingrid Bergman, Greg

25. Spellbound: Criterion Collection (1945)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Hitchcock fans will feel pleased with the Criterion release of Spellbound, but less stalwart partisans will probably want to check out some of his other works instead.

26. Taxi Driver [Blu-Ray 4K] (1976)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Dark and haunting, Taxi Driver provides a rich examination of a deeply troubled character. The movie paints a full picture of its subject and remains effective after 35 years. The Blu-ray presents strong picture and audio but omits all supplements. If you don’t care about bonus materials, I’d recommend this 4K Blu-ray, but I think most fans will be more

27. Notorious [Blu-Ray] (1946)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Many seem to regard Notorious as one of Hitchcock’s all-time great films, but I must admit I don’t get its appeal. While it has its moments, I think it’s too slow and lacks enough intrigue to qualify as better than average. Starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman. Criterion, $39.95, 1/15/2019.

28. The Omen [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you go anticipate a creative, fresh experience from the 2006 take on The Omen, you’ll leave disappointed, as it adheres very closely to its predecessor. Despite its lack of creativity, however, it improves on the original with a more intricate, less florid view of events. Starring Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles. Fox, $9.98, 10/10/2006.

29. Taxi Driver: Collector's Edition (1976)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Dark and haunting, Taxi Driver provides a rich examination of a deeply troubled character. The movie paints a full picture of its subject and remains effective after more than 30 years. The DVD presents pretty good picture, sound and extras. This is a generally positive package for an excellent film. Starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster. Sony, $19.98, 6

30. The Omen Legacy (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although the original Omen remains an influential and important film, The Omen Legacy doesn’t present a great examination of the series and its history. Some interesting moments appear, but overall, the disc feels mostly like a “Cliff’s Notes” version of the various flicks. Narrated by Jack Palance. Image Entertainment, $19.99, 10/14/2003.
