11. It's a Wonderful Life: 60th Anniversary Edition (1946)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite my love/hate relationship with the movie, I still usually get that urge to watch it at Christmas. Since that's not as easy as it used to be when the film aired almost nonstop from Thanksgiving to Christmas, it's a nice DVD to own. This “60th Anniversary Edition” doesn’t include any new supplements, but it offers significantly improved picture and

12. It's a Wonderful Life: Collector's Set (1946)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Except for the dubious addition of a colorized version of the film, this “2-Disc Collector’s Edition” doesn’t include any new supplements above those on the 2006 “60th Anniversary Edition”, and it features the same picture and audio from that release. All of which makes the “60th Anniversary Edition” the one to own. It retails for $5 less than this 2007

13. The Man Who Knew Too Much [4K UHD] (1956)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I like Alfred Hitchcock’s work enough to find some merit in The Man Who Knew Too Much, but I nonetheless don’t regard it as a particularly interesting offering. It moves slowly and rarely becomes as involving and intriguing as expected. Starring James Stewart, Doris Day. Universal, $29.98, 10/31/2023.

15. Rope [Blu-Ray] (1948)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Most directors who attempt real time movies without obvious cuts would make their works unbearably stilted and pretentious. Alfred Hitchcock wasn’t “most directors”, though, so his use of unusual techniques in Rope does much to benefit the drama and little to harm it. Starring James Stewart, John Dall. Universal, $29.98, 6/4/2013.

The DVD suffers from poor picture and mediocre audio as well as a modest complement of supplements. Man is worth a look

19. Airport '77 (1977)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A tedious and dull disaster movie, Airport ‘77 didn’t live up to its potential. With an excellent cast and a theoretically interesting scenario, the film could have been the best of the series. Unfortunately, it bores us to death with its endless focus on logistics. Starring Jack Lemmon, Lee Grant. Universal, $19.98, 2/10/2004.

20. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance: John Wayne Collection (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With John Ford behind the camera and both James Stewart and John Wayne in front of it, 1962’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance presents a meeting of cinematic giants. Even with all that such a combination promises, Shot lives up to expectations, as it offers a dynamic, dramatic western ... I like the film a lot, but it deserves better treatment than this
