81. The Sixth Sense [Blu-Ray] (1999)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Sixth Sense is a rare film: one that received critical plaudits and also cleaned up at the box office. Although I'm not sure how well it'll endure repeated viewings, I still find it to be a compelling and entertaining film, bolstered by some very strong performances. Starring Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment. Buena Vista, $20.00, 9/30/2008.

82. Oppenheimer [Blu-Ray] (2023)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An epic that exceeded all box office expectations, Oppenheimer delivers a brisk and ambitious piece. Christopher Nolan makes the story tight and freewheeling all at the same time in this dramatic and absorbing semi-biopic. Starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt. Universal, $39.98, 11/21/2023.

83. Bumblebee [4K UHD] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As an extension of the Transformers universe, Bumblebee fares better than its predecessors. That said, the movie doesn’t dazzle, as it feels too derivative to become anything memorable. Starring Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena. Paramount, $39.99, 4/2/2019.

84. White House Down [Blu-Ray] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: No one will mistake White House Down for great cinema, but it doesn’t aspire to be anything more than what it is: a big, loud, fun popcorn movie. Down gives us a consistently breezy, exciting adventure despite its intellectual failings. The Blu-ray presents very good picture and terrific audio but lacks especially interesting bonus materials. Accept Down

85. Death Race: Unrated (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Loud, crude, and moronic, Death Race plays like a videogame brought to the big screen – and that’s not a compliment. The action never heats up, and the total lack of involving story or characters makes the movie a chore to watch ... Other than the sound, nothing here excels, and the flick itself is a dud. Starring Jason Statham, Joan Allen. Universal, $2

86. United 93 [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Of all the events that took place on 9/11/01, the actions of the passengers on United Flight 93 stand among the most heroic. United 93 pays tribute to them with a stirring but still moderately unsatisfying effort. The movie delivers an emotional climax but distracts us with too many gimmicks in the preceding 90 minutes. Written & Directed by Paul Greengr

87. Out of Sight (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The movie offers strong characters whose interaction makes the flick a consistent delight...

88. Rope (1948)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Most directors who attempt real time movies without obvious cuts would make their works unbearably stilted and pretentious. Alfred Hitchcock wasn’t “most directors”, though, so his use of unusual techniques in Rope does much to benefit the drama and little to harm it ... This ends up as a fine movie and DVD. Starring James Stewart, John Dall. Warner, $19

89. Death Race 3: Inferno [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I thought the first film in the series was poor, and Death Race 3: Inferno does nothing to elevate the franchise. It might actually be a crummier piece of work than the original, as it delivers nothing but hyperactive visuals with little point and no excitement. The Blu-ray brings us very good picture and audio along with a decent set of bonus materials

90. Exorcist: The Beginning (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I recognize that it’s tough to create an effective follow-up to a classic like The Exorcist, surely someone could do much better than the feeble Exorcist: The Beginning. Nothing more than a standard issue horror flick with some mild religious overtones, it lacks anything to make it involving or effective. Directed by Renny Harlin. Warner, $27.95, 3
