61. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein [Blu-Ray] (1948)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: To my surprise, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein becomes an entertaining little film. Frankly, I expected it to stink but instead I found a consistently funny and delightful piece. Starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello. Universal, $19.98, 10/14/2014.

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington remains a compelling and entertaining movie. Though not perfect, the film entertains and proves to be a stirring morality tale. Starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur. Sony, $19.98, 12/2/2014.

64. The Ox-Bow Incident: Studio Classics (1943)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A pioneering western, The Ox-Bow Incident offers a rich and dark examination of frontier “justice”. It gives us a good psychological portrait of the mob mentality and comes across as taut and compelling. Starring Henry Fonda. Fox, $19.98, 11/4/2003.

65. Creature from the Black Lagoon [4K UHD] (1954)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With Creature from the Black Lagoon, we get the final classic Universal monster. The movie differs from the more psychological chills of the earlier stories, but it nonetheless offers a fun tale that becomes effectively rendered. Starring Richard Carlson, Julie Adams. Universal, $79.98, 10/11/2022.

66. Blackhat: Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (2015)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite some potential thrills, Blackhat fails to find a groove. Slow and plodding, the movie lacks even basic intrigue or excitement. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis. Arrow, $39.95, 11/28/23.

67. The Wolf Man [Blu-Ray] (1941)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite its status as a classic, 1941’s The Wolf Man seems erratic to me. While it comes with some good action, a lackluster lead performance mars it. Starring Lon Chaney Jr., Claude Rains. Universal, $19.98, 9/2/2014.

68. In Old Chicago: Fox Studio Classics (1938)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I must admit some mixed feelings toward In Old Chicago. On one hand, I liked it more than I expected, mostly because I so strongly disliked Alexander’s Ragtime Band, and also because of some good performances. On the other hand, the movie suffers from erratic storytelling and some awkward components. It adds up to a watchable movie but not a special one.

69. Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Kathryn Bigelow has come to enjoy a strong reputation as a director over the last few years, but I can’t figure out why. I’ve yet to see a Bigelow film that seems better than average to me, and 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty does nothing to change my mind. Watchable but curiously flat and devoid of tension, the movie seems anonymous and forgettable. The DVD giv

70. First Man [Blu-Ray] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A sporadically effective biopic, First Man works best when it focuses on its impactful space photography. However, the movie lacks much depth and seems more superficial and derivative than I’d like. Starring Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy. Universal, $34.98, 1/22/2019.
