- 31. The Grudge [Blu-Ray] (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though The Grudge aspires to be more than just the usual schlock, it doesn’t usually succeed. The movie is quirkier and more stylish than most, but it relies on too many stock scares and never pays off in a satisfying manner. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Bill Pullman. Sony, $9.99, 5/12/2009.

- 32. Spider-Man 2: Superbit (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I really liked the quality of the Superbit disc but as a fan, I’d not like to lose the terrific supplements from the special edition. Ultimately, I think the two-disc set will remain the most satisfying for the most people. After all, it’s not like it looked or sounded bad. However, for those with an interest in taking in the highest quality presentation

- 33. Spider-Man 2 (2012 Re-Issue) [Blu-Ray] (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Unfortunately, the Blu-ray lacks many extras found on the old DVDs, so fans who own those will need to hold onto them. If you already have the 2007 Blu-ray and either own the bonus features from the DVDs or don’t care about those materials, there’s no reason to upgrade; the 2012 Blu-ray demonstrates picture/audio that seem similar to the earlier release.

- 34. Spider-Man 2 [Blu-Ray] (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Some will argue that Spider-Man 2 outdoes its predecessor. I loved the first movie too much to agree, but I also can’t find too much fault with those thoughts, as the sequel works awfully well. It presents a lively, vivid, funny, dramatic and touching experience that continues the series brilliantly. The Blu-ray’s picture quality is consistently top-notc

- 36. The Quick And The Dead [Blu-Ray] (1995)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: At its heart, The Quick and the Dead sounds like some kid’s silly fantasy of a movie: “It’s like High Noon but just the ending!” While that premise easily could have faltered, it actually works well here, as the film keeps us interested and entertained. The Blu-ray offers generally good picture and audio but it skimps on extras. The lack of substantial s

-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you have the older version and feel satisfied with the picture, don’t bother with the Superbit. The audio commentary seems mediocre and not worth the additional expense on its own. However, if you’re one of the many who thought the old disc’s visuals seemed less than positive, you’ll probably be unable to resist this upgrade. Starring Tobey Maguire, K

- 38. Spider-Man [Blu-Ray] (2002)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Happily, Spider-Man itself doesn’t disappoint. The movie offers a lively and exciting piece that possesses greater depth and emotion than one might usually expect from this sort of film. It doesn’t seem perfect, but it works tremendously well as a whole and it captures the parts of the comic books that make them so memorable. The Blu-ray provides strong

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After more than a decade, Spider-Man remains one of my favorite superhero movies; indeed, it might only be second to The Dark Knight on my personal list. While I can’t call it flawless, it’s light, fun and a good representation of the comics. The Blu-ray brings us strong picture and audio but lacks supplements. It’s too bad the 4K Blu-ray comes with no b

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: This “Complete Collection” packages all 30 of Ash vs. Evil Dead’s episodes. It literally replicates the previously-released Blu-rays, so nothing new appears, but it becomes an efficient way to own the whole series in one fell swoop. Starring Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless. Anchor Bay, $49.99, 10/16/2018.
