21. Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans waited a long time to get Lawrence of Arabia on DVD, but I’m happy to report that it was worth it. In regard to the movie itself, the plaudits is has received over the years are completely appropriate, as this stunning epic fully deserves as much praise as can be heaped upon it. Lawrence is an amazing piece of work that never fails to entertain and

22. A Passage To India: Collector's Edition (1984)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As much as I admire David Lean, I can’t find much good to say about his final film, 1984’s A Passage to India. Too long and too dull, it consists of some lovely images without enough substance to maintain our interest ... I feel pleased with this release but don’t care for the movie itself. Starring Judy Davis, Victor Banerjee. Sony, $24.96, 4/15/2008.

23. Lawrence of Arabia [Blu-Ray] (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The plaudits Lawrence of Arabia has received over the years are completely appropriate, as this stunning epic fully deserves as much praise as can be heaped upon it. Lawrence is an amazing piece of work that never fails to entertain and delight. As for the Blu-ray, it mixes nearly immaculate visuals, solid audio and a generally positive set of supplement

24. Lawrence of Arabia (Superbit) (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: My main recommendation would be for serious fans to own both versions. I’ll keep the 2001 release for its supplements, but I’ll watch the Superbit one in the future. If you refuse to own more than one package, however, I’d push for you to get the Superbit DVD. The picture improvements seem substantial enough for me to prefer to stick with it. I like the

25. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Very few sequels clearly surpass their predecessors, but The Empire Strikes Back outdoes Star Wars in almost every manner. As fantastic as the original remains, Empire seems even more dazzling and memorable. Starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher. Fox, $69.98, 9/21/2004.

26. Lawrence of Arabia: Collector's Edition (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: On its own, this Collector’s Edition of Lawrence of Arabia stands as the film’s best release to date. It mixes a few good extras with the high quality movie presentation found on the Superbit DVD. Unfortunately, big Lawrence fans who own the original 2001 disc won’t be able to replace it. While the 2008 disc looks much better than that version, it drops

27. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (Limited Edition) (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: That makes this LE an even more difficult sell, as unlike Star Wars, it doesn’t offer a clearly superior rendition of the film. The archivist in me is glad to own this package, and if it included a nice anamorphic transfer of the theatrical Empire, I’d heartily endorse it. As it stands, I’ll watch the SE version in the future; I maintain a marginal prefe

28. The Ladykillers (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I wouldn’t look at The Ladykillers as anything special or a blazingly funny flick. Nonetheless, it proved generally amusing and light, at least until we got to the violence of the conclusion. It didn’t qualify as a memorable movie but it was reasonably enjoyable. Starring Tom Hanks, Marlon Wayans. Buena Vista, $29.99, 9/7/2004.

29. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Anyone who expects an action-packed thriller from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy will leave with disappointment. Instead, it provides a rich, involving mystery with a lot of layers to it. The Blu-ray delivers good picture and audio, while its supplements are average. Despite the spotty bonus materials, the movie itself makes this a worthwhile pick-up. Starrin
