31. Valentine's Day [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With scads of stars, Valentine’s Day boasted great potential to be out of the ordinary. Instead, it’s about as in the ordinary as I can imagine, a film with tons of characters but nothing particularly clever, memorable or entertaining. The Blu-ray provides generally good picture, mediocre audio and a decent set of supplements. While not awful, Day is per

32. King Kong: Special Edition (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though the movie sags during its first act, the excitement and thrills of the subsequent two hours make up for its flaws. The DVD offers virtually flawless picture and audio along with a nice set of informative extras. I definitely recommend Kong and think this two-DVD Special Edition stands as its best current iteration. Starring Naomi Watts, Jack Black

33. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite my aversion to its lead actor, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World offers a mostly fun mix of character exploration, action and comedy. While the film occasionally becomes too self-infatuated to succeed, it gives us enough good material to keep us with it. Starring Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Universal, $9.98, 11/9/2010.

34. Star Trek: The Compendium [Blu-Ray] (2009/2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Two movies into the franchise and I remain a fan of the Star Trek “reboot”. Both 2009’s Star Trek and 2013’sInto Darkness bring us fun, lively adventures that hold up to repeated viewings. Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto. Paramount, $44.99, 9/9/2014.

35. Pixels [Blu-Ray 3D] (2015)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With a clever concept at work, Pixels looked like it would deliver lively summer entertainment. Instead, it brought us a lackluster action-comedy, one with too many poor choices and too little inspiration. Starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James. Sony, $19.99, 10/27/2015.

37. The Bourne Identity [Blu-Ray] (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When it showed theatrically in 2002, The Bourne Identity did little to entice me, which is why I didn’t see it until years later. I’m glad I finally did, as the movie presents an intriguing and well-made variation on the standard spy flick. Starring Matt Damon, Franka Potente. Universal, $26.98, 1/19/2010.

38. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: It seems unlikely that Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief will span a movie franchise. Based on what I saw, I can’t say that upsets me. Thief provides a competent adventure but not one that ever threatens to become especially exciting or involving. The Blu-ray offers very good picture and audio along with a pretty dull compilation of s

39. Wings [Blu-Ray] (1927)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As I’ve watched 83 Best Picture-winning films, I’ve suffered through some that didn’t hold up well after however many years. I expected 1927’s Wings to be as dated as The Broadway Melody and Cimarron but found it to be surprisingly enjoyable; while it shows its age, it still delivers a fun popcorn flick. The Blu-ray boasts stunning picture quality as wel

40. Star Trek Into Darkness [4K UHD] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While not as good as its immediate predecessor, Star Trek Into Darkness provides an enjoyable adventure. It comes with a few questionable choices but packs enough action and fun to make it a winner. The Blu-ray boasts superb picture and audio along with a decent set of supplements. I’m disappointed that we get so few extras – especially after the packed
