51. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes [Blu-Ray] (2023)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Perhaps some Hunger Games superfans craved a prequel to the Katniss Everdeen saga, but I can’t imagine legions of those folks exist. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes becomes a moderately engaging look at Panem two generations prior to the Katniss tale, but its absence of genuine purpose means it never quite connects. Starring Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegle

52. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within [4K UHD] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within seems moderately entertaining, and it provides a technical milestone for its era. Unfortunately, it features a story that becomes little more than a generic rehash of other plots, and the animation holds up poorly after two decades. Starring Ming-Na, Alec Baldwin. Sony, $30.99, 11/16/2021.

53. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby - Big Hairy American Winning Edition [Blu-Ray] (2006
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby has many good moments, but it doesn’t soar consistently. An unlikable lead character and too many weak gags keep it from living up to its potential. Starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly. Sony, $14.99, 10/25/2016.

54. JFK: Special Edition (Oliver Stone Collection) (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ultimately, I have to recommend JFK just because it’s such a strong film, but I urge you to check out other sources of material on the assassination and not just accept Stone’s blather without question. Starring Kevin Costner,Kevin Bacon. Warner, $24.98, 2/6/2001.

55. JFK [Blu-Ray] (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Oliver Stone has yet to make a better film than 1991’s JFK. However, Stone abuses his power so egregiously that I have a difficult time appreciating JFK because it’s such a load of hooey. Starring Kevin Costner, Kevin Bacon. Warner, $24.98, 11/11/2008.

56. JFK: 2003 Special Edition (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: For those who already own a prior JFK DVD, the question of “upgrade” comes into play. If you only have the old “flipper”, I’d definitely recommend this 2003 set; it improves upon the original disc in every way. However, if you possess the 2001 special edition release, I’d stick with it. That one and the 2003 version are almost identical. This package add

57. JFK: 50 Year Commemorative Ultimate Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Oliver Stone has yet to make a better film than 1991’s JFK. However, Stone abuses his power so egregiously that I have a difficult time appreciating JFK because it’s such a load of hooey. Starring Kevin Costner,Kevin Bacon. Warner, $59.99, 11/12/2013.

58. JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (A) double – or triple, or quadruple – dip (is) difficult to recommend. Objectively, the UCE provides the best release of JFK simply because it has all the supplements from the prior versions along with some new materials. However, its semi-high price makes it a tough sell. If you really, really dig JFK, I’d say go for it, but I think the 2003 SE remains

59. The Simpsons: The Complete Seventh Season (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Eventually we’ll see the decline of The Simpsons, but they downturn doesn’t occur in Season Seven. While I wouldn’t credit this year as the series’ best, it offers many more hits than misses ... I’ve recommended every prior set, so I don’t plan to stop now: Season Seven of The Simpsons would make a fine addition to your DVD collection. Created by Matt Gr
