11. Demetrius And The Gladiators (Cinema Classics Collection) (1954)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A perfectly respectable sequel, 1954’s Demetrius and the Gladiators offers a good piece of entertainment. It lacks the strong religious bent of its predecessor, but it gives us enough vivid action to keep us interested ... I like the movie itself, but this DVD disappoints. Starring Victor Mature, Susan Hayward. Fox, $9.98, 2/27/2001.

15. From Here to Eternity [Blu-Ray] (1953)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Overall, From Here to Eternity offered an interesting and surprisingly gritty experience. The movie showed its age at times, but it still appeared to work quite well. The Blu-ray provides excellent picture quality along with generally positive audio and bonus materials. The Blu-ray brings us a fine representation of a classic film. Starring Burt Lancaste

16. From Here to Eternity: Columbia Best Pictures Collection (1953)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (F)rom Here to Eternity fans face a potential dilemma. I think they’ll like this new transfer, but they’ll have to decide if they want the other movies as well; obviously no one will spend $135 just for one flick. Don’t expect miracles from the 2008 presentation, but it does offer a definite improvement over the earlier transfer. Starring Burt Lancaster,

19. Escape From New York [Blu-Ray] (1981)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Unquestionably, fans who want the best visual and auditory rendition of Escape will pursue this Blu-ray, as it looked and sounded better than ever. However, it’s a shame that those same fans can’t retire their seven-year-old DVDs; the Blu-ray really should’ve included the SE’s supplements. Written and Directed by John Carpenter. 20. Strange Wilderness (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Painfully stupid, Strange Wilderness lacks the slightest semblance of humor. Instead, it substitutes idiotic gags and pointless wackiness. None of it works and the flick’s 85 minutes pass very, very slowly ... Stay away from this completely unfunny stinker. Starring Steve Zahn, Allen Covert. Paramount, $29.99, 5/20/2008.
