- 51. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2002)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Two Towers doesn’t feel as engrossing as its predecessor, but that’s almost inevitable given its spot as the middle chapter of a trilogy. It’s still an excellent movie that continues the tale well. The Blu-ray adds 44 minutes of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut.

- 52. Middle-Earth Ultimate Collector's Edition [4K UHD] (2001-2014)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should one expect this 'Middle-Earth Ultimate Collector’s Edition' to live up to its title? No – though it brings us decent 'one-stop shopping' for the 6 Peter Jackson Tolkien films, it lacks a huge array of pre-existing bonus features. Starring Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman. New Line, $249.98, 11/16/2021.

- 53. Doogal (2006)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When I went into Doogal, I expected a wholly terrible movie. Although it wasn’t atrocious, it certainly wasn’t good. The film was little more than a loose framework for random gags. Starring Daniel Tay, Jimmy Fallon. Weinstein Company, $28.95, 5/16/2006.

- 54. The Shadow [Blu-Ray] (1994)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While not devoid of charms, The Shadow lacks much excitement and intrigue. It delivers periodic bouts of entertainment but not enough to keep us occupied across its full running time. The Blu-ray provides generally positive picture and audio along with an informative documentary. I feel pleased with this release but the movie itself leaves me a bit cold.

- 55. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (Limited Edition) (2003)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Where does that leave the 2006 “Limited Edition”? It’s a good choice for fans who own no version of The Return of the King and who want to be able to see both the theatrical and extended cuts of the film. That’s the only audience to whom I can recommend the set, as I think the other versions remain preferable for the reasons mentioned above. I have no pr

- 56. Cats [Blu-Ray] (2019)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Both a critical disaster and a box office bomb, Cats provides one of the most 'what were they thinking?' big-budget affairs in recent memory. Despite a good cast, the movie ends up as a plodding, bizarre mess. Starring Taylor Swift, Idris Elba. Universal, $29.98, 4/7/2020.

It offers an amazing experience that remains gripping from start to finish. I didn’t think it was possible, but with superior picture and sound plus even more supplements, thi

- 59. Beauty And The Beast [Blu-Ray] (2017)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While 2017’s Beauty and the Beast became the highest—grossing Disney live-action remake to date, I don’t think it offers the strongest creative experience. The new version offers a fairly literal reworking of the animated original and doesn’t bring much new to the table. Starring Emily Watson, Dan Stevens. Disney, $39.99, 6/6/2017.

-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When I saw A Good Day to Die Hard, I opined that it’d probably end up as my biggest cinematic disappointment of 2013. Perhaps I spoke too soon, as Man of Steel may earn that “honor”. Flawed in almost every possible way, the film craps all over the Superman legacy. Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams. Warner, $24.98, 11/12/2013.
