31. Chinatown (1974)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Chinatown qualifies as a great movie, and one that deserves its status as a classic. The DVD provides mediocre picture and good audio plus a couple of minor extras. Though not a stellar DVD, Chinatown is a terrific film that definitely warrants your attention. Starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway. Paramount, $12.98, 11/23/1999.

32. The Departed [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While it forms an interesting picture, The Departed doesn’t match up with director Martin Scorsese’s best. It entertains and acts as a worthwhile experience, but it doesn’t leave a substantial impression like Scorsese’s more memorable material. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon. Warner, $14.98, 2/13/2007.

33. Terms of Endearment [4K UHD] (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a film, Terms Of Endearment offers a fairly well made effort, but I do not think it does much that makes it special. I really do not believe it deserved all of the Academy Awards it garnered over efforts like The Right Stuff. Starring Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger. Paramount, $39.98, 11/14/2023.

35. Casablanca: 70th Anniversary Limited Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1942)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: So what’s a Casablanca fan to do? Probably wait and hope that WB puts out this set’s first disc on its own in the not-too-distant future. While I like the documentaries on Disc Two as well as the book and poster, they’re just not worth the package’s nearly $65 list price. If you don’t care about the cost, the 70th Anniversary release will make you happy,

36. In Old Chicago: Fox Studio Classics (1938)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I must admit some mixed feelings toward In Old Chicago. On one hand, I liked it more than I expected, mostly because I so strongly disliked Alexander’s Ragtime Band, and also because of some good performances. On the other hand, the movie suffers from erratic storytelling and some awkward components. It adds up to a watchable movie but not a special one.

37. The Hunt for Red October: Collector's Edition (1990)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The newly-remastered picture showed moderately superior visuals when compared to the prior release, whereas the audio seemed to remain the same between the two.

40. The Hunt for Red October [4K UHD] (1990)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though I didn’t think much of The Hunt For Red October when I first saw it in 1990, I must admit it’s slowly grown on me over the years. It crams in a lot of technical issues and conveys them concisely, and it builds to a rousing and involving climax. Starring Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin. Paramount, $69.99. 8/21/18.
