11. L.A. Confidential: Special Edition (1997)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I continue to really enjoy Confidential and highly recommend it, so new fans will want to grab this special edition. As for those who already own the original DVD, my recommendation depends on how much you like extras. While the SE includes tons of new bonus materials, I don’t see it as an upgrade in terms of picture and audio; the SE looks different tha

12. The Old Dark House [Blu-Ray] (1932)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After 85 years, The Old Dark House remains a strong thriller. Due to James Whale’s deft direction, the film maintains a creepy vibe combined with effective scares. Starring Boris Karloff, Gloria Stuart. Cohen, $25.99, 10/24/2017.

14. The T.A.M.I. Show: Collector's Edition (1964)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of the most legendary rock movies ever made, The TAMI Show finally receives an official home video release. Does it deserve its fame? I’d say yes, as it packs an often excellent roster of rock/soul/pop greats into its 113 minutes ... As for the DVD, it looks and sounds pretty bad in an objective sense. However, sometimes my grading doesn’t tell the w

15. Alien Anthology: Bonus Material [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... I remain happy with the “Anthology”. It includes some of my all-time favorite movies and brings them to Blu-ray in generally good style. It’s certainly a dream for folks who want to know more about the series’ creation, as it comes packed with more supplements than I’d have dreamed possible. All of this makes me pretty pleased with this massive set.

16. Pretty In Pink: I Love The 80's Edition (1986)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans of Pink will want to go with the 2006 Special Edition. It provided slightly superior picture quality along with more significant extras. All that and it actually retails for a couple dollars less than this “I Love the 80s” version. Skip this one and go with the SE. Starring Molly Ringwald, Harry Dean Stanton. Paramount, $14.99, 8/5/2008.

17. Pretty In Pink: Everything's Duckie Edition (1986)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In the Eighties, John Hughes milked teen drama for all it was worth, but that doesn’t mean he did so with consistent success. As someone who went to high school in that era, I should enjoy this nonsense if just due to my memories, but Pretty in Pink is so overwrought and cheesy that I found it tough to take. Starring Molly Ringwald, Harry Dean Stanton. P

20. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Extended Edition [Blu-Ray 3D] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As the second chapter in a trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug does fairly well for itself. Though the tale can drag and feel padded at times, it still packs enough adventure and drama to make it an enjoyable experience. Starring Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman. New Line, $39.99, 11/4/2014.
