31. The Birds [Blu-Ray] (1963)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I wouldn’t objectively call The Birds Hitchcock’s best movie, it may offer his most entertaining one. Packed with thrills and tension, it turns into a fun ride. Starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy. Universal, $19.98, 5/6/2014.

32. Looper [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While the film left me a bit cold when I first saw it, Looper holds up to additional viewings well. Indeed, more scrutiny allowed me to better appreciate its charms and see it as a rich, involving character western with sci-fi elements to give it some spice. The Blu-ray delivers excellent picture and audio along with a good roster of supplements. Looper

33. Speed [Blu-Ray] (1994)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 28 years after its release, Speed remains a terrific thrill ride. It may not be the absolute best of its genre, but it’s quite close to the top, and it provides a fun and exciting experience. Starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock. Fox, $16.99, 11/14/2006.

34. Infamous (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If Capote never existed, then Infamous would probably work as a pretty good movie. There’s little really wrong with the movie, as it offers a reasonably interesting view of one important period in the life of author Truman Capote. However, since Capote already told the same story and did it much more successfully, there’s nothing about Infamous to attrac

35. Doom: Unrated Extended Edition (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although it didn’t break the videogame movie curse, Doom isn’t the disaster I thought it’d be. While wholly derivative of Aliens and never anything memorable, it provides a lively and fun action-adventure that achieves most of its modest goals. Starring The Rock, Karl Urban. Warner, $29.98, 2/7/2006.

36. The Guardian (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite its predictable nature and a “been there, done that” feel to the story, The Guardian manages to entertain – for a while. Unfortunately, the movie takes some serious wrong turns and runs way too long. These factors make it badly flawed in the end. Starring Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher. Buena Vista, $29.99, 1/23/2007.

37. One Hour Photo (2002)
Reviewed by David Williams: One Hour Photo comes highly recommended on all fronts – this is a great, great film and Fox has given us a DVD to match.

38. The Simpsons: The Complete Seventh Season (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Eventually we’ll see the decline of The Simpsons, but they downturn doesn’t occur in Season Seven. While I wouldn’t credit this year as the series’ best, it offers many more hits than misses ... I’ve recommended every prior set, so I don’t plan to stop now: Season Seven of The Simpsons would make a fine addition to your DVD collection. Created by Matt Gr

39. The Zookeeper's Wife [Blu-Ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though not the most creative movie I’ve seen, The Zookeeper’s Wife offers a reasonably engaging drama. It covers a tale of human survival in a fairly clean manner without too much melodrama. Starring Jessica Chastain, Daniel Brühl. Universal, $34.98, 7/4/2017.

40. Good Night, And Good Luck [Blu-Ray] (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Based on my interest in the subject matter, I expected to like Good Night, and Good Luck, and I wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the movie came as a crashing disappointment. It failed to connect to the drama inherent in the story and came across as a flat, uninvolving piece. Starring David Strathairn, Robert Downey Jr. Warner, $19.95, 8/1/2006.
