21. Appaloosa (2024 Reissue) [Blu-Ray] (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ed Harris delivers a scattered, disjointed Western via Appaloosa. At times the movie feels like a 'greatest hits' reel, as it combines hints of other flicks into one unsatisfying whole. Starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen. New Line, $14.98, 3/19/2024.

22. The Man In the Iron Mask [Blu-ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Now best-known as Leonardo DiCaprio’s first film released after Titanic, The Man In the Iron Mask delivers a bland affair. Even with dollops of action and intrigue, the film can’t provide any real excitement or drama. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeremy Irons. Shout, $34.93, 10/9/2018.

23. Margin Call [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With a surprisingly human tone, Margin Call delivers a fairly involving take on the recent financial crisis. It lacks immense bite and can seem a little undramatic at times, but I like the manner in which it personalizes the issues. The Blu-ray comes with very good picture and acceptable audio; supplements aren’t exceptional, but the commentary adds valu

24. Beautiful Creatures [Blu-Ray] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you expect Beautiful Creatures to be much more than “Twilight with witches”, expect disappointment. While not a carbon copy, Creatures lacks originality and provides a pretty slow, dull supernatural tale. The Blu-ray comes with pretty good audio but visuals seem somewhat flat and it lacks an interesting roster of supplements. Maybe fans of the source

25. The Time Machine (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although The Time Machine had a lot of potential, the final result seemed muddled and bland.

26. The Lion King: Signature Collection [Blu-Ray] (1994)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I probably wouldn’t claim that The Lion King is my all-time favorite Disney animated film, but it resides very high on that list. Starring Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons. Disney, $39.99, 8/29/2017.

27. Kingdom Of Heaven (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Kingdom of Heaven feels like it should come with one of those “if you like X, then you’ll love Y” ad campaigns. The movie shows its Gladiator influences heavily, though it doesn’t succeed to the same degree. Heaven has some good battle sequences but fails to offer much else to make it intriguing. Starring Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson. Fox, $29.98, 10/11/20

28. Kingdom Of Heaven: Director's Cut (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Across the board, the Director's Cut of Heaven earns my recommendation. The extended version of the film becomes a quality flick, and the package presents it in a terrific manner. If you don't have the old DVD, get this one. If you do have the theatrical release, get this one; even if supplements don't interest you, the new cut of the flick makes it wort

29. The Lion King [Blu-Ray] (1994)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... The Lion King would earn my recommendation even if the Blu-ray included no supplements. The movie stands as one of Disney’s finest and contains to impress after 17 years. The Blu-ray presents excellent picture and sound; it disappoints in terms of extras, though the materials we find here are all good. It stinks that fans will need to keep their old

30. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice [Blu-Ray 3D] (2016)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After the severe disappointment of Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice offers an improvement – but not as much of one as I’d hoped. While aspects of the film work well, many other parts drag or make little sense, factors that turn Dawn into erratic entertainment. Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill. Warner, $44.95, 7/19/2016.
