71. The Gold Rush: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1925)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When I initially watched it years ago, I must admit I expected to dislike The Gold Rush. Instead, I found it offered a pretty witty, entertaining and charming little film. The Blu-ray presents age-defying visuals as well as good quality audio and a solid set of supplements. This becomes the best home video incarnation of the silent classic to date. Starr

72. The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite its action/sci-fi/thriller trappings, The Adjustment Bureau is an old-fashioned love story at heart, and one that works well. It can thank its leads for that, as Matt Damon and Emily Blunt make the outlandish tale succeed. The DVD delivers mediocre picture, decent audio and a reasonably good set of supplements. This isn’t a great release, but the

73. Frankenweenie [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 28 years after the original short film, Tim Burton reworked Frankenweenie with mediocre results. While I respect and admire the artistry of the appealing stop-motion animation, the story and characters lack much to make this an enjoyable ride. Starring Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara. Disney, $19.99, 1/8/2013.

74. Desperado: Special Edition (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With 1000 times the budget of El Mariachi, Robert Rodriguez created a sequel that didn’t match up to the original. Desperado has its moments, but overall it feels forced and like everyone involved tried too hard to impress us. Directed by Robert Rodriquez. Columbia, $19.95, 8/26/2003.

75. The Gold Rush: The Chaplin Collection (1925)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Gold Rush is such a sweet and lovely little comedy that I’d recommend it even to those without much prior affection for silent flicks.

76. El Mariachi: Special Edition (1992)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Shot for about half the price of a Civic, El Mariachi rarely totally overcomes its budgetary restraints. However, the movie usually surpasses expectations and actually allows us to forget its amateurish roots. It seems lively and exciting and remains much more entertaining than most blockbusters. Directed by Robert Rodriquez. Columbia, $19.95, 8/26/2003.

77. The Country Bears (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ...a fairly clever and endearing presentation that amused me more than I’d like to admit.

78. Extras: The Complete Second Season (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Extras ends its (intentionally) short run with Season Two. If forced to pick, I’d say I prefer Season One, but S2 offers plenty of good material and seems very satisfying. As for the DVD, it offers perfectly decent picture, audio and supplements. The package doesn’t dazzle, but the show is definitely good enough to encourage my recommendation. Starring R

79. Kingdom Of Heaven (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Kingdom of Heaven feels like it should come with one of those “if you like X, then you’ll love Y” ad campaigns. The movie shows its Gladiator influences heavily, though it doesn’t succeed to the same degree. Heaven has some good battle sequences but fails to offer much else to make it intriguing. Starring Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson. Fox, $29.98, 10/11/20

80. Platoon [Blu-Ray] (1986)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I continue to think Platoon is a good and often effective flick, but I don’t feel it’s a masterpiece or the best of its genre. The Blu-ray provides generally solid picture and audio as well as a strong collection of supplements, though it loses some useful components from earlier DVDs. The absence of those extras means fans will need to hold onto their o
