11. Transformers One [Blu-Ray] (2024)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After 17 years, Transformers One finally brings a Transformers movie that I liked. With a lot of heart, laughs and action, the film becomes an enjoyable origin story. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry. Paramount, $37.99, 12/17/2024.

12. The Jesus Rolls [Blu-Ray] (2020)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans of The Big Lebowski may hope to find a worthwhile spinoff via The Jesus Rolls. Unfortunately, it becomes an inane, pointless expansion of a character who can’t sustain a feature film. Starring John Turturro, Bobby Cannavale. Screen Media, $29.98, 5/5/2020.

13. Minions [Blu-Ray 3D] (2015)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a spinoff, Minions provides occasional entertainment, but it lacks the substance necessary to carry a full movie. The lead characters just seem too one-dimensional to maintain interest across as entire feature. Starring Pierre Coffin, Sandra Bullock. Universal, $49.98, 12/8/2015.

14. Bridesmaids [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Bridesmaids proves that “chick flicks” can be raunchy, too. While it lacks the general crudeness of male-oriented siblings like The Hangover, Bridesmaids does give us something different. It’s too long and too sentimental, but thanks to a great cast and some clever writing, it’s funny enough to succeed. Starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph. Universal, $9.

15. Minions [Blu-Ray] (2015)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a spinoff, Minions provides occasional entertainment, but it lacks the substance necessary to carry a full movie. 16. 30 Rock: Season 4 (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 30 Rock continues to be one of the best TV series around, and we find more evidence of that in this Season Three set. Some shows fare better than others, of course, but the majority are clever and amusing. The DVDs provide acceptable picture and audio plus an erratic but usually interesting set of supplements. 30 Rock provides terrific entertainment and

18. Girl on the Third Floor [Blu-Ray] (2019)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As another entry in the oft-visited haunted house genre, Girl on the Third Floor struggles to find its way. While it occasionally shows signs of life, too much of the movie feels meandering and unconvincing. Starring Phil Brooks, Trieste Kelly Dunn. Dark Sky Films, $29.98, 1/7/2020.

19. Top Gun [4K UHD] (1986)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A serious piece of Eighties cheese, Top Gun doesn’t hold up well after more than 30 years. Granted, I wasn’t wild about it in 1986, but all this time later, it looks even sillier than I recalled. Starring Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis. Paramount, $29.99, 5/19/2020.
