26. That Thing You Do! (1996)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: There’s a lot to like about That Thing You Do!. The movie itself is a nearly unmitigated joy as it provides a fun and happy experience from start to end. It captures the positive side of being in a band without any cynicism or mean-spiritedness, and it lets us join a bunch of good guys as they make a brief run at the top. It’s a smart, happy piece that I

27. Armageddon [Blu-Ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Armageddon was a guilty pleasure in 1998 and it remains one in 2010. Is the film absurd and stupid? Yeah, but it’s also exciting, escapist fun. The Blu-ray finally brings the film into the 21st century, as it boasts a strong visual presentation that easily tops the 11-year-old non-anamorphic DVDs ... 28. The Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King - Platinum Series Extended Edition (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I definitely preferred the extended takes on Fellowship and Towers to their theatrical renditions, whereas that’s not the case here. Nonetheless, this shouldn’t negate the fact that the 4-disc King offers a spectacular package. I can’t praise it enough, as it presents yet another stunning release that stands as arguably the greatest DVD ever released. Di

29. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Two Towers doesn’t feel as engrossing as its predecessor, but that’s almost inevitable given its spot as the middle chapter of a trilogy. It’s still an excellent movie that continues the tale well. The Blu-ray adds 44 minutes of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut.

30. Robot & Frank (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When I went into Robot & Frank, I feared that it’d degenerate into a maudlin vision of elderly dementia. Happily, it avoids those trappings to deliver a warm, gently amusing character piece. The DVD comes with acceptable picture and audio as well as an enjoyable commentary. Plop this one in the “recommended” file. Starring Frank Langella, James Marsden.
