132. Each Dawn I Die [Blu-Ray] (1939)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Each Dawn I Die flits from one topic to another without much coherence. The flick has some good moments but lacks enough focus to succeed. Starring James Cagney, George Raft. Warner, $21.99, 4/27/2021.

133. What Just Happened [Blu-Ray] (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Barry Levinson attempts to bite the hand that feeds him via the Hollywood satire What Happened Here. Unfortunately, the film indulges in the usual concepts so it fails to find a clever or interesting path. Starring Robert De Niro, Kristen Stewart. Magnolia, $16.99, 2/24/2009.

134. Cat People: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1942)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though I’m not sure it belongs among the all-time great horror flicks, Cat People stands as a memorable affair. I appreciate its subtlety and think it creates a good sense of dread and understated fear. Starring Simone Simon, Kent Smith. Criterion, $39.95, 9/20/20016.

135. The Queen [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: My favorite of the 2006 Oscar nominees, The Queen gives us a revealing and insightful look at recent history. We get a good feel for the inside perspective of these events and find a consistently interesting and intriguing take on the participants. Starring Helen Mirren, Michael Sheen. Miramax, $14.99, 4/24/2007.

136. Vertigo: Collector's Edition (1958)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Vertigo definitely is effective, but something about it simply leaves me flat. Maybe it's because the film wasn't really what I expected. While it has some of those moments, it's not a really thrilling chiller ala Psycho. That's not bad, but even though I'd seen Vertigo years ago, I wasn't quite prepared for the route it would take. Starring James Stewar

137. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre [Blu-Ray] (1948)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A worthwhile entry on the AFI 100 list, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre works for those who want a manly adventure or who prefer something with more subtext. It benefits from generally excellent acting, a compelling story, and deft direction. The Blu-ray gives us good picture and sound along with a terrific set of supplements. The Blu-ray delivered a st

138. Little Caesar [Blu-Ray] (1931)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While influential and important as an early gangster flick, Little Caesar can look dated to modern eyes. That doesn’t mean the movie doesn’t entertain, though, as a stellar lead performance from Edward G. Robinson ensures that we remain interested in the movie despite its weaknesses. The Blu-ray offers erratic but acceptable picture and audio along with

139. Kalifornia: Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1993)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If nothing else, Kalifornia offers a historical curiosity, as it shows a bunch of stars early in their film careers. Unfortunately, the movie itself falters and offers a limp stab at a thriller. Starring Brad Pitt, Juliette Lewis. Shout, $34.93, 3/5/2019.

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington remains a compelling and entertaining movie. Though not perfect, the film entertains and proves to be a stirring morality tale. Starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur. Sony, $19.98, 12/2/2014.
