21. Gallipoli: Special Collector's Edition (1981)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Gallipoli deserves credit for its unusual subject matter and the restrained, low-key manner in which it examines things. However, it doesn’t offer enough narrative to maintain our interest over its 111 minutes, and its lack of depth means we stay at a distance from it. Starring Mel Gibson, Mark Lee. Paramount, $14.98, 12/13/2005.

22. The Beaver [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With The Beaver, we get an intermittently intriguing take on depression. At its best, the movie delivers an unusual mix of comedy and drama, but it sags too often and doesn’t manage to work in the end. The Blu-ray offers decent picture and audio along with a few average supplements. This isn’t a bad film, but it’s too inconsistent to succeed. Starring Me

23. Mad Max [4K UHD] (1979)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though undeniably influential, I don’t think Mad Max offers a terrific film experience. The flick has its moments and I can definitely see its impact on later movies but the flick itself seems unspectacular. Starring Mel Gibson, Joanne Samuel. Warner, $89.99, 11/16/2021.

24. Agent Game [Blu-Ray] (2022)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Even by the low standards of direct-to-video thrillers, Agent Game seems lackluster. The presence of some prominent actors raises hopes, but the end result seems cheap and incoherent. Starring Dermot Mulroney, Mel Gibson. Lionsgate, $21.99, 5/24/2022.

25. Payback: Straight Up (Director's Cut) (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A dark, cynical crime fantasy, Payback entertains in a brutal, sadistic manner, but it never manages to be anything more than moderately compelling. It feels stuck in its late 90s era and lacks the spark of better films from its genre ... Though I’m not wild about the movie, this is a strong DVD and will definitely be of great interest to fans of Payback

26. Pocahontas: 10th Anniversary Edition (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I enjoy Pocahontas and think it's a rather underrated Disney feature, though still not one of their best pictures. This DVD vastly improves over its predecessor, as it offers mostly solid picture with positive audio and a quality roster of extras. This is a fine DVD that should make fans happy. Starring Irene Bedard, Mel Gibson. Disney, $29.99, 5/3/2005.

27. Lethal Weapon 4: The Lethal Weapon Collection [Blu-Ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Lethal Weapon 4 provides a slapdash and limp affair that goes nowhere and provides a terrible ending to the series. Ripped out in record time, it shows its quick schedule and feels like the commercial product it is. The Blu-ray delivers excellent visuals and generally good audio along with a few interesting supplements. Although I have no big complaints

28. Lethal Weapon: The Lethal Weapon Collection [Blu-Ray] (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An influential “buddy flick”, Lethal Weapon holds up reasonably well after 25 years. While it’s not a great film, it creates decent entertainment and remains easily the best in its franchise. The Blu-ray provides erratic but generally positive picture and audio along with some similarly erratic supplements. Nothing here excels, but this becomes a fairly

29. The Road Warrior [4K UHD] (1981)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I cannot say I loved Mad Max, I found it preferable to its often slow, often campy sequel. The Road Warrior ends with a bang but plods on its way to its big finale. Starring Mel Gibson, Bruce Spence. Warner, $33.99, 2/1/2022.

30. We Were Soldiers [Blu-Ray] (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though I admire the intentions behind We Were Soldiers, I did not care for the film itself. The movie wants to depict the reality of a historically significant battle in Vietnam, but the result feels pat, trite and predictable. Starring Mel Gibson, Sam Elliott. Paramount, $22.98, 6/3/2008.
