152. Mildred Pierce: Criterion Collection [4K UHD] (1945)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When Mildred Pierce succeeds, it does so via a strong performance from its lead actor. However, with mushy plotting and lackluster narrative movement, not even Joan Crawford can fully redeem this spotty melodrama. Starring Joan Crawford, Jack Carson. Criterion, $49.95, 3/7/2023.

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of cinema’s enduring comedy classics, I think National Lampoon’s Animal House holds up pretty well after 30 years. While I don’t believe it’s quite as good as its legend indicates, it does amuse ... I’m not wild about the transfer, but the disc mostly satisfies. Starring John Belushi, Tim Matheson. 155. National Lampoon's Animal House: Double Secret Probation Edition (1978)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though it satisfies less than its prior release. Both this “30th Anniversary Edition” and the 2003 “Double Secret Probation Edition” sport similar picture and audio, but the earlier set includes superior supplements. Since the 2003 disc is now out of print, you might be out of luck and stuck with the newer one, but if you can find it, the “Double Secret”

156. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies [Blu-Ray] (2016)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If Pride and Prejudice and Zombies better embraced its inherent goofiness, it might offer an engaging mix of period drama, action and horror. However, it takes itself so seriously that it fails to turn into anything that creates a consistently interesting experience. Starring Lily James, Sam Riley. Sony, $34.98, 5/31/2016.

158. An Officer And A Gentleman (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I wasn’t quite that fond of An Officer and a Gentleman itself, but after 25 years, it remains a pretty solid piece of entertainment. The movie combines romance with the rigors of officer training school nicely and should appeal to a wide audience. Starring Richard Gere, Debra Winger. Paramount, $14.99, 12/12/2000.

159. John Carter [Blu-Ray 3D] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: John Carter leaves me tempted to write a three-word review: it is okay. Which it is, as the movie consistently offers a perfectly decent sci-fi adventure. Unfortunately, I prefer movies that provoke greater enthusiasm than a general shrug, so I cannot offer much of an endorsement here. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins. Disney, $39.99, 6/5/2012.

160. Woman of the Year: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1942)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As the first film to pair Katharine Hepburn with Spencer Tracy, 1942’s Woman of the Year boasts a special place in cinema history. Unfortunately, it seems lackluster as a film, for it fails to create interesting characters or entertaining situations. Starring Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy. Criterion, $39.95, 4/18/2017.
