141. Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Backs (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As much as I liked Futurama on TV, I must admit its first two direct-to-DVD adventures haven’t dazzled me. The Beast With a Billion Backs entertains but it fails to become better than average when compared to the series ... Backs is good enough to recommend it for Futurama fans, but it’s not a great flick. Created by Matt Groening. Fox, $29.98, 6/24/2008

142. X-Men: Days of Future Past [Blu-Ray] (2014)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In relation to the rest of the series, X-Men: Days of Future Past offers a middle of the pack experience. It keeps us moderately involved but it never turns into anything especially exciting. Starring Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy. Fox, $19.99, 10/14/2014.

143. Three Coins In The Fountain: Fox Studio Classics (1954)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Unfortunately, Three Coins in the Fountain fails to turn into a good movie. It lacks a substantial plot or meaningful characters, and it blends its different elements poorly. Add to that a clumsy, stilted ending and Fountain doesn’t go much of anywhere. Starring Clifton Webb, Dorothy McGuire. Fox, $14.98, 11/2/2004.

144. Peyton Place: Fox Studio Cassics (1957)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Peyton Place may have passed for steamy and scandalous 50 years ago, and those elements may have been provocative enough to make it entertaining in that era. However, in the 21st century, Place has little reason to merit a viewer’s attention. Awkwardly placed and with thin, uninteresting characters, the film simply seems dull nowadays. It’s too long and

145. Gnomeo & Juliet [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Combine Shakespeare with Toy Story - and leave out the former’s tragedy and the latter’s cleverness – and you get Gnomeo and Juliet. While not a bad animated flick, this one lacks much real spark; it delivers moderate amusement and nothing more. The Blu-ray offers very good visuals, decent audio and a few interesting supplements. Gnomeo offers credible b

146. Epic [Blu-Ray] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With Epic, we get a competent animated adventure. The movie does enough to keep us with it, but it fails to find its own personality. The Blu-ray provides good picture, excellent audio and a handful of moderately informative extras. I like the film but not enough to give it a strong endorsement. Starring Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson. Fox, $39.99, 8/20/

147. Cyrus [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite a talented cast, Cyrus ends up as a drag. The movie lacks personality or depth, so it simply comes across like a missed opportunity. The Blu-ray delivers very good visuals, ordinary audio and minor supplements. I can’t find much to like about this forgettable character piece. Starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill. Fox, $39.99, 12/14/2010.

148. In Old Chicago: Fox Studio Classics (1938)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I must admit some mixed feelings toward In Old Chicago. On one hand, I liked it more than I expected, mostly because I so strongly disliked Alexander’s Ragtime Band, and also because of some good performances. On the other hand, the movie suffers from erratic storytelling and some awkward components. It adds up to a watchable movie but not a special one.

149. Vantage Point: Special Edition (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I wanted to like Vantage Point, but the film’s excessive reliance on plot twists and gimmicks renders it impotent. The movie blows its potential and ends up as a barely coherent collection of flashbacks that bores more than it excites ... I’d like to recommend Point but can’t find enough substance in it to do so. Starring Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox. Sony,

150. Alexander's Ragtime Band: Fox Studio Classics (1938)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A film that doesn’t deserve its status as a “Studio Classic”, Alexander’s Ragtime Band fails in most conceivable ways. From bland, idiotic characters to a flimsy plot to lackluster music to a general lack of logic, the movie comes across as tedious and inane. Starring Tyrone Power, Alice Faye. Fox, $14.98, 9/7/2004.
