221. Never Say Never Again (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I hate to slam a Bond film - especially one that stars Sean Connery - I found Never Say Never Again to provide a poor example of the genre. The whole thing feels like a cheap rip-off and it almost never gels despite the best efforts of the star ... Never Say Never Again may merit a look from curious Bond fans, but I'm glad I only rented it. I wo

222. The X-Files: I Want To Believe - Special Edition (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If one expects a big, slam-bang return for The X-Files with I Want to Believe, one will emerge disappointed. The movie suffers from a myriad of flaws and few strengths, all of which leave it as dull and disjointed ... I can’t complain about this release, but the movie itself becomes a massive letdown. Starring David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson. Fox, $34.9

223. Patton [Blu-Ray] (1970)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As it stands, Patton is one of the all-time great films, one that fully deserves its continued level of respect. It tells its tale well and benefits from many positive elements. The Blu-ray offers good audio and supplements but the image suffers from too much noise reduction and comes with a shiny, artificial look. That’s too bad; Patton remains a terrif

224. The Diary Of Anne Frank [Blu-Ray] (1959)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Diary of Anne Frank takes on an important subject but only provides an occasionally effective examination. While the movie clearly has some terrific moments, it also falls flat at times and seems too erratic to be a thorough winner. Starring Millie Perkins, Shelley Winters. Fox, $34.99, 6/16/2009.

225. Elektra: Director's Cut (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The theatrical cut of Elektra was a murky mess, and the slightly longer Director’s Cut fails to make it better. The movie continues to suffer from too much blandness and not enough clarity. Starring Jennifer Garner, Goran Visnjic. Fox, $26.98, 10/15/2005.

226. The Hustler: Collector's Edition (1961)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While this Collector’s Edition of The Hustler is a must-have for new fans, does it deserve “repurchase” status for those who already own the original DVD? Yes, if those viewers like supplements. We get a few good new pieces here, but picture and audio remain identical when compared to the prior release. Starring Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason. Fox, $19.98,

227. Independence Day [4K UHD] (1996)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Many folks dislike Independence Day and hold it up as an example of all that's wrong with big-budget, brainless action flicks. To those people I say this: relax! Take fun and exciting movies like this for what they are and save the brainpower for your next perusal of Dostoyevsky. Starring Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum. Fox, $14.99, 6/13/2017.

228. Valley Of The Dolls: Special Edition (Cinema Classics Collection) (1967)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While lovers of camp embrace Valley of the Dolls, it offers nothing else. If you don’t adore so-bad-it’s-good flicks, you’ll get absolutely no enjoyment from this moronic affair. The DVD presents good picture with adequate audio and a strong roster of extras. Despite my disdain for the movie itself, the Dolls DVD is a quality piece of work. Starring Patt

229. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory [Blu-Ray] (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Long on visual razzle-dazzle but short in most other areas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory offers a flawed adaptation of a classic work. The movie has its moments but doesn’t compare favorably with its cinematic predecessor. The Blu-ray presents very positive picture and audio along with a nice collection of supplements. The movie is an erratic fantas

230. Night At The Museum: Special Edition (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans can buy Museum in two flavors: this two-disc Special Edition and a single DVD version. The latter offers this package’s first disc on its own. The SE retails for $5 more than the simpler set, and I think it’s worth it. If you don’t care about supplements, don’t bother, but if they interest you, drop a few extra bucks and enjoy all the nice materials
