271. Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of the better Star Trek films, First Contact provides a consistently satisfying affair.

272. Flightplan [Blu-Ray] (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: All the storytelling concerns mean that I can’t offer a glowing recommendation for Flightplan. However, I think it’s a lively enough little popcorn flick for me to give it a decent endorsement. Silly as it may be, it delivers an hour and a half of good thrills, and that makes it worthwhile for what it is. Starring Jodie Foster, Peter Sarsgaard. Touchston

273. John Wick [4K UHD] (2014)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Packed with action, John Wick could use a bit more story and character depth. Still, the violent set pieces work well enough to turn it into a largely exciting experience. Starring Keanu Reeves, Willem Dafoe. Lionsgate, $19.99, 2/7/2017.

274. Wish [Blu-Ray] (2023)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While Wish intended to cap Disney’s 100th anniversary with a bang, instead it fizzled. A generic riff on the studio’s fairy tale past, the movie lacks heart, spirit or substantial entertainment value. Starring Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine. Disney, $34.99, 3/12/2024.

275. Dead Man Walking [Blu-Ray] (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With polarizing subject matter and an unsympathetic main subject, Dead Man Walking should’ve been a shrill cartoon of a movie. However, it offers an involving examination of its topics and benefits from excellent acting as its core. The Blu-ray provides average picture and audio along with a good audio commentary. This isn’t a dazzling Blu-ray, but the m

276. Baggage Claim [Blu-Ray] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While not totally without charm, Baggage Claim flops much more than it succeeds. It moves slowly and lacks real entertainment value. The Blu-ray delivers very good picture as well as generally positive audio and decent bonus features highlighted by an enjoyable commentary. Claim winds up as a forgettable romantic comedy. Starring Paula Patto, Derek Luke.

277. Narcos: Season One [Blu-Ray] (2015)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Through its 10 episodes, Season One of Narcos provides a largely compelling take on factual events. It spins these in a fictionalized manner and it creates a good new take on the drug wars. Starring Wagner Moura, Boyd Holbrook. Lionsgate, $29.97, 8/23/2016.

278. Gridiron Gang (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you expect anything new or exciting from Gridiron Gang, you’ll leave it disappointed. The film follows a relentlessly predictable path that does nothing to inspire or excite. Starring The Rock, Xzibit. Sony, $28.95, 1/16/2007.

279. Shark Night [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I don’t expect modern “aquatic creature attack” movies to rival Jaws, I think the genre remains open to exploration and could give us something effective. Shark Night isn’t that something, as the film seems too slow and dull to deliver the desired water-based bite. The Blu-ray boasts very good picture and audio but lacks substantial supplements. Ev

280. Sully [Blu-Ray] (2016)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though not as introspective as I’d like, Sully offers a rousing tale. I’d prefer something deeper but the movie packs a nice emotional punch. Starring Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart. Warner, $35.99, 12/20/2016.
