21. Resident Evil: Retribution [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Five films into the franchise and Resident Evil: Retribution shows a series close to creative bankruptcy. With a muddled plot and a reliance on flashy visuals, there’s no meat here, and even the action scenes feel reheated. The Blu-ray delivers excellent picture and audio as well as an erratic but generally solid package of bonus materials. Leave Retribu

22. Avatar: Extended Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: This Collector’s Edition Blu-ray brings Avatar home in a highly satisfying manner. Like the original release, it boasts superb picture and audio, but unlike its home video predecessor, the CE packs a stunning roster of supplements. With three versions of the film and loads of additional materials, this must be the Avatar for fans to own. Written & Direct

23. The Fate of the Furious [4K UHD] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Eight films into the franchise, The Fate of the Furious demonstrates a lack of creativity. While it throws plenty of over the top action and mayhem at the viewer, little of this material sticks, so the end result feels oddly dull. Starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson. Universal, $14.98, 7/11/2017.

25. Can't Hardly Wait [Blu-Ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though Can’t Hardly Wait isn’t a classic, it offers a reasonably bright and amusing teen flick. Members of that age group will clearly like it best, but old folks like me can still derive some enjoyment from it. Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ethan Embry. Sony, $19.99, 9/30/2008.

26. The Fast and the Furious [4K UHD] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I guess a lot of people like The Fast and the Furious, but I think it offers a pretty bland film. It boasts a few good racing/action sequences, but its bland characters and rehashed plot mean that it never becomes anything more than average. Starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker. Universal, $29.98, 10/2/2018.

28. Can't Hardly Wait: 10th Anniversary Edition (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you want to own Wait on DVD, matters become somewhat complicated. Both this 2008 SE and the original 1998 disc offer identical audio, but the new release has significant improvements in terms of extras. Unfortunately, it takes a hit in the picture quality department. Neither release looks great, but I think the old one provides the more satisfying vis

29. SWAT: Superbit (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The first release’s supplements were quite good, as the two audio commentaries and other elements added a lot of useful information. None of those appear here, but the DVD improves both picture and audio. If you don’t care about the extras, definitely go with the Superbit release, as it definitely offers the best possible depiction of the film. Starring

30. SWAT [Blu-Ray] (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A generic action flick, SWAT brings virtually nothing new to the genre. Had it at least followed its clichés and predictable material in a satisfying way, I’d have enjoyed it, but it seems dull and never does anything to entice the viewer’s interest. Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell. Sony, $14.98, 9/19/2006.
