11. Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Probably 2003’s most pleasant cinematic surprise, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl ably overcomes the cheesiness of its origins and provides a deft and lively adventure. It reignites the fun of pirate flicks and still manages to feel fresh and invigorating. Starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom. Disney, $29.99, 12/2/2003.

12. Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl (Special Edition) (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Would I recommend the three-DVD set to anyone who bought that original release? Nope. Don’t get me wrong; the 2004 version tosses in some fun stuff. However, there’s not enough here to warrant the extra cost. If you currently own the two-disc package, stick with it. Starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom. Disney, $29.99, 11/2/2004.

13. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - Platinum Series Extended Edition (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Whether you spring for the “Collector’s Gift Set” or just stick with the standard four-DVD version, you definitely need to pick up the Special Extended Edition of The Two Towers. It offers an amazing experience that remains gripping from start to finish. I didn’t think it was possible, but with superior picture and sound plus even more supplements, thi

14. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans had high expectations for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and the film seems to match them. As a neophyte to the realm, I feel the movie has some minor flaws, but overall it comes across quite well, and it offers an exciting and rich experience. The Blu-ray offers good – though slightly inconsistent picture – along with mostly ter

15. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End - Limited Edition (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The original Pirates of the Caribbean remains the best, but that doesn’t mean At World’s End doesn’t do well for itself. The movie comes with a number of issues but turns into one of those examples of a whole that exceeds the sum total of its parts. Despite some weak storytelling and an excessive running time, it manages to entertain. Starring Johnny Dep

17. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Extended Edition of the film adds a half an hour of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut. The Blu-ray boasts excellent picture and audio along with a thorough, nearly exhaustive set of supplements. It’s too bad this release doesn’t feature an option to watch the the

18. Extras: The Complete Second Season (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Extras ends its (intentionally) short run with Season Two. If forced to pick, I’d say I prefer Season One, but S2 offers plenty of good material and seems very satisfying. As for the DVD, it offers perfectly decent picture, audio and supplements. The package doesn’t dazzle, but the show is definitely good enough to encourage my recommendation. Starring R

19. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I don’t think Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest lives up to the fun presented by its predecessor, it holds up acceptably well. The movie packs just enough spry adventure to make it enjoyable and inviting. Starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley. Disney, $9.99, 5/22/2007.
