- 43. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Extended Edition [Blu-Ray 3D] (2013)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As the second chapter in a trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug does fairly well for itself. Though the tale can drag and feel padded at times, it still packs enough adventure and drama to make it an enjoyable experience. Starring Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman. New Line, $39.99, 11/4/2014.

-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: So who – if anyone – will want to buy this “Limited Edition”? Absolute die-hards will likely grab it to complete their collections, though I don’t think they’ll miss much without it. Does the new documentary tell us anything we don’t already know from the first two sets? Not really. A few interesting unique bits may emerge, but I don’t feel as though it

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After a 14-year wait, the moronic mush of Basic Instinct 2 was the best they could offer? The film does virtually nothing right and becomes far too boring to keep us even vaguely interested across its running time. Starring Sharon Stone, David Morrissey. Sony Pictures, $26.96, 7/11/2006.

- 49. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time [Blu-Ray] (2010)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Intended to launch a new franchise, instead Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time sputtered at the box office. I suspect much of this stemmed from the movie’s inherent mediocrity. While it was never a true dud, it also failed to do much to make itself dynamic or engaging. The Blu-ray offers very good picture and audio along with a nice interactive feature
