Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After 40 years, A Clockwork Orange remains an amazing and powerful film. I continue to feel wholeheartedly that it was easily Stanley Kubrick’s best work. The Blu-ray offers good picture, audio and extras. I’m not sure that this is a substantial upgrade over the Special Edition DVD, but if you don’t own that one, go for this Blu-ray release. Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In the past, I’ve been frustrated by David Fincher’s films, but I’ve never been bored by them – until now. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button presents a slow, generally dull fable that never really comes to life. While the story has potential, Fincher fails to imbue it with the appropriate sense of heart or vivacity ... Fincher fans will want to give Bu

- 134. The Birds: Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (1963)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Good performances, memorable use of sound, and a terrific premise: all of those help make The Birds a winner. I’ve heard rumblings of a remake, but I hope Hollywood leaves well enough alone. This film is more than good enough to stand on its own, and it doesn’t need an update. Starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy. Universal, $119.98, 10/4/2005.

- 135. Mulan: Two Movie Collection [Blu-Ray] (1998)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Mulan remains one of the best Disney flicks from the modern era. It didn’t rake in mega-bucks of the studio’s most financially successful efforts, it stands as a very well-realized effort that aptly demonstrates the genre’s strengths with almost none of its weaknesses. The Blu-ray delivers excellent visuals along with very good audio and bonus materials.

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Back in the Eighties, Amazing Stories never quite seemed to live up to its potential. Viewed 20 years later, the shows vary in quality. Some shine brightly, others meander and lack an impact. Overall, the series has enough hits to be generally entertaining. Created by Steven Spielberg. Universal, $49.98, 7/18/2006.

For all the folks who don’t already own it, definitely snatch one of these right away; it’s a great little flick and a strong DVD. If you currently possess the old disc, I’d still advise a purchase of the SE. With its improved picture quality
