61. Iron Man [Blu-Ray] (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I’d like to refer to Iron Man as one of the great superhero movies, I can’t do that. It provides an enjoyable, well-produced effort with more strengths than weaknesses, but it just doesn’t hit the heights of the best comic book flicks. The Blu-ray offers great picture and audio along with a very nice collection of extras. This is a top-notch rel

63. The Year Without A Santa Claus (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: How could anyone like a movie that casts the loathsome “Dr. Laura” as a wise guru? It would take a product much better than this to overcome such impediments such as that and “Queer Eye” Carson Kressley’s mincing performance as a fashion elf. This is atrocious Christmas product with no redeeming value. Starring John Goodman, Eddie Griffin. Warner, $19.98

64. Cowboys & Aliens [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Blessed with a fine cast and a fun premise, Cowboys & Aliens should delight. However, it seems flat and dull, without the light sense of silly fun it needs. Starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford. Universal, $14.98, 12/6/2011.

65. Ali: The Director's Cut (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: fans who don’t own the old disc should definitely go for the Director’s Cut DVD. While I wasn’t wild about the additional footage worked into the movie or the supplements, they still add value to the package that doesn’t exist in the original release. Of the two, the Director’s Cut is clearly the superior release and the one for new fans to buy. Starring

66. Philadelphia: Anniversary Edition (1993)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Well-meaning in the extreme, I appreciate Philadelphia for its attempts to spread a message of tolerance and understanding. Unfortunately, these strengths also become weaknesses as the movie quickly turns one-sided and patronizing, with little room for debate. Starring Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington. Columbia TriStar, $24.96, 11/2/2004.

67. The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition (1989)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The movie isn’t as good as some later Disney works, but it seems generally entertaining and compelling. It also deserves a warm spot in the hearts of Disney fans because it helped return the studio’s animated department to prominence. The DVD presents very good picture and audio as well as many interesting extras. I heartily recommend Mermaid, and that g

68. Saturday Night Live: The Early Years - The Best of Seasons 1-5 (1975-1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Nearly five decades after the groundbreaking series debuted, Saturday Night Live: The Early Years gives us an overview of the famous initial cast. Of course, the episodes vary in quality, but Early Years offers a nice snapshot. Starring Chevy Chase, John Belushi. Time Life, $104.98, 11/10/2020.

69. Aladdin: Special Edition (1992)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A sensation when it first appeared in 1992, some parts of Aladdin now seem a little creaky. Nonetheless, a stellar performance from Robin Williams helps overcome most of its problems and means that the movie continues to provide a lot of entertainment. Starring Scott Weinger, Robin Williams. Disney, $29.99, 10/5/2004.

70. The Birds [4K UHD] (1963)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I wouldn’t objectively call The Birds Hitchcock’s best movie, it may offer his most entertaining one. Packed with thrills and tension, it turns into a fun ride. Starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy. Universal, $29.98, 9/7/2021.
