21. The Croods: A New Age [Blu-Ray] (2020)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Can I dislike a movie in which a lead character uses a peanut to substitute for her amputated toe? Nope, and The Croods: A New Age comes with plenty more laughs in other areas as well, all of which make it a wild, winning sequel. Starring Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage. Universal, $34.98, 2/23/2021.

22. Paper Man [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After an engaging start, Paper Man falters. It still manages to keep us reasonably invested in it, but it lacks the natural movement to make it wholly satisfying. The Blu-ray provides average picture and audio along with minor supplements. Though it has some positives, the movie ends up as too inconsistent to really succeed. Starring Jeff Daniels, Emma S

23. The Proposal [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Why did The Proposal become a major hit? I have no idea. While not an unpleasant experience, it lacks anything to make it rise above its romantic comedy roots. The Blu-ray offers very good picture, decent audio and a few interesting supplements. This is by the numbers mediocrity. Starring Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds. Touchstone, $44.99, 10/13/2009.

26. Smokin' Aces [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A messy melange of cheap humor, annoyingly quirky characters, inconsistent tone and excessive exposition and dialogue, Smokin’ Aces flops in almost every possible way. It never remotely gels into a coherent experience, as it jumps around so much that it can’t connect with the viewer. Not that most folks will care, as they’ll abandon this stinker within t

27. Life [Blu-Ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A mediocre riff on Alien, Life fails to deliver a memorable cinematic experience. While it gives us a handful of decent thrills, too much of the movie seems bland and predictable. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson. Sony, $34.99, 6/20/2017.

The Blu-ray boasts excellent picture and audio along with a mediocre set of supplements. The lack of substantial bonus features disappoints, but the movie merits a look. Starring Nicolas Cage, Emm

30. Adventureland [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I went into Adventureland with high hopes for a satisfying “coming of age” piece. Unfortunately, the film takes itself way too seriously, and it suffers from such a severe lack of energy that it makes its 107-minute running time feel much, much longer. The Blu-ray boasts very good picture but offers mediocre audio. Although not packed with extras, the co
