21. The Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King - Platinum Series Extended Edition (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I definitely preferred the extended takes on Fellowship and Towers to their theatrical renditions, whereas that’s not the case here. Nonetheless, this shouldn’t negate the fact that the 4-disc King offers a spectacular package. I can’t praise it enough, as it presents yet another stunning release that stands as arguably the greatest DVD ever released. Di

22. 50 First Dates [Blu-Ray] (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A surprisingly sweet and charming piece, 50 First Dates falters at times, but remains mostly solid. The film melds a few genres fairly smoothly and seems amusing and likable. Starring Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore. Columbia TriStar, $19.99, 6/20/2006.

23. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (Limited Edition) (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Where does that leave the 2006 “Limited Edition”? It’s a good choice for fans who own no version of The Return of the King and who want to be able to see both the theatrical and extended cuts of the film. That’s the only audience to whom I can recommend the set, as I think the other versions remain preferable for the reasons mentioned above. I have no pr

24. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Limited Edition) (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I don’t know how much fans who watched the extras with the four-DVD will gain from this program. We see some fun elements but I can’t say we really learn anything new about the production. As a fan, I think there’s a lot of enjoyable material on display; it simply doesn’t teach us much that we don’t already know ... I like the “Limited Edition” on its ow

25. The War Of The Roses [Blu-Ray] (1989)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a black comedy, The War of the Roses provides an intermittently effective affair. It really only soars during its third act, as the first 80 minutes or so lack consistency. Still, there’s decent entertainment value here. The Blu-ray provides erratic but generally satisfying picture and audio along with a pretty nice selection of bonus materials. Neith

26. Click (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I wanted to like Click and thought I would enjoy it based on trailers. However, the movie featured exceedingly few humorous moments and instead features the exploits of a genuinely obnoxious, unlikable lead character. A few minor laughs emerge but not enough to overcome the film’s many faults. Starring Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsale. Sony Pictures, $28.95

27. My Name Is Earl: Season Two (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: My Name Is Earl emerged as a hit in 2005-06, and it continued to entertain in its second season. I don’t think the series’ quality dips at all. No, not all of the episodes soar, but there’s more than enough good comedy to keep us entertained ... This is a nice release for a fun show. Starring Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee. Fox, $49.98, 9/25/2007.

28. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Limited Edition) (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: So who – if anyone – will want to buy this “Limited Edition”? Absolute die-hards will likely grab it to complete their collections, though I don’t think they’ll miss much without it. Does the new documentary tell us anything we don’t already know from the first two sets? Not really. A few interesting unique bits may emerge, but I don’t feel as though it

30. Supergirl: The Complete Fifth Season [Blu-Ray] (2019-20)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: By now, fans of Supergirl know what to expect from the series, and Season Five does nothing to alter the template. That leads to a mostly enjoyable but erratic collection of shows. Starring Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks. Warner, $44.98, 9/8/2020.
