27. Bringing Up Baby: Special Edition (1938)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Probably the best-realized example of the “screwball comedy”, Bringing Up Baby beats us into submission with its relentless procession of insanity. The movie easily could have gone sour, but it works quite well, as the combination of bright dialogue and peppy performances makes it a winner. Starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant. Warner, $26.99, 3/1/2005

28. Rio Bravo: Special Edition (1959)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... all of these factors turn Rio Bravo into a memorable western. An involving tale filled with interesting characters, it creates a good little action piece. The movie keeps us with it despite some slow spots and ends up as a winner. Starring John Wayne, Dean Martin. Warner, $20.97, 5/22/2007.

29. The Philadelphia Story: Special Edition (1940)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Philadelphia Story is a fun and witty flick that shows few serious flaws. I wasn’t wild about the abrupt ending, which presented a twist that seemed to exist simply for the sake of being unexpected, but otherwise it’s a solid and entertaining piece of work. Starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart. Warner, $26.99, 3/1/2005.

30. The Shining [Blu-Ray] (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite some nostalgic fondness for The Shining, it currently does not stand as one of my favorite Kubrick films. The movie has its moments and can generate the appropriate scares at times, but overall, I think it lacks the flair and drama I expect from Kubrick. Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall. Warner, $19.98, 10/23/2007.
