The movie itself doesn’t qualify as my favorite comic book adaptation - I still prefer the first two Batman flicks - but it holds up well after nearly a quarter of a century despite a few flaws. The series forced the viewer to remain alert and expect the unexpected, all of which made for very good TV. Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While this four-DVD set is clearly the best one on the market, should fans who own the original 2001 release upgrade? Yes, but only if they care about extras and/or prefer to see the movie’s 1978 theatrical cut instead of its Expanded Edition.
