141. Spaceballs: 25th Anniversary Edition [Blu-Ray] (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Spaceballs won’t go down as Mel Brooks’ worst movie, but that acts mostly as a reflection of the crumminess of the movies that followed it. Spaceballs provokes maybe two or three minor chuckles, but otherwise it leaves me shaking my head at all the wasted talent. The Blu-ray presents positive picture and audio as well as some erratic extras. Uninspired,

142. Spaceballs [Blu-Ray] (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Obviously I don’t recommend Spaceballs to new viewers, but should established fans pursue the Blu-ray? Probably. It includes virtually all the same extras as the 2005 Special Edition DVD, and it provides moderately superior visuals. It’s not a killer release, but it’s pretty good. Starring Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis. MGM, $29.99, 6/16/2009.

143. Taxi Driver [Blu-Ray] (1976)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Dark and haunting, Taxi Driver provides a rich examination of a deeply troubled character. The movie paints a full picture of its subject and remains effective after 35 years. The Blu-ray presents excellent picture and extras as well as very good audio. The Blu-ray becomes the optimal version of this classic film. Starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster. S

145. Taxi Driver: 2007 Collector's Edition (1976)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I definitely recommend this two-disc Collector’s Edition of Taxi Driver to anyone with an interest in the flick. That goes for fans who already own the old 1999 DVD. This one improves upon its picture and audio and adds a bunch of nice extras. It’s a very strong set. Starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster. Sony, $24.96, 8/14/2007.

146. American: The Bill Hicks Story [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Over the years since his 1994 death, Bill Hicks has become something of a comedy legend. If you want to find out why, look somewhere other than American: The Bill Hicks Story. It gives us some interesting notes about suffers from a one-sided perspective. The Blu-ray provides average picture and audio along with a long roster of supplements. This one seem

147. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou: Criterion Collection (2-Disc Special Edition) (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou falls into the category of quiet, unassuming movies. Sure, it goes for an action bent at times, but it doesn’t overshoot its boundaries as it remains mostly soft and quirky. It takes a while to get going, but by its conclusion you realize you’ve seen something very good. Starring Bill Murray, Owen Wilson. Criterion, $32

150. SCTV Network/90: Volume One (1977)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Arguably the funniest program ever to hit the air, SCTV comes to DVD with this package of nine episodes. Not each one flies, but only a few sketches tank and a great deal of hilarious material appears across the almost 10 hours of footage found in this set. Starring John Candy, Eugene Levy. Shout Factory, $89.98, 6/8/2004.
