Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ultimately I maintain some misgivings about It's A Wonderful Life as a film but I find it hard not to recommend it. Despite my love/hate relationship with the movie, I still usually get that urge to watch it at Christmas. Starring James Stewart, Donna Reed. Paramount, $14.98, 10/11/2016.

4. It's a Wonderful Life: 60th Anniversary Edition (1946)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite my love/hate relationship with the movie, I still usually get that urge to watch it at Christmas. Since that's not as easy as it used to be when the film aired almost nonstop from Thanksgiving to Christmas, it's a nice DVD to own. This “60th Anniversary Edition” doesn’t include any new supplements, but it offers significantly improved picture and

5. It's a Wonderful Life: Collector's Set (1946)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Except for the dubious addition of a colorized version of the film, this “2-Disc Collector’s Edition” doesn’t include any new supplements above those on the 2006 “60th Anniversary Edition”, and it features the same picture and audio from that release. All of which makes the “60th Anniversary Edition” the one to own. It retails for $5 less than this 2007

7. From Here to Eternity [Blu-Ray] (1953)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Overall, From Here to Eternity offered an interesting and surprisingly gritty experience. The movie showed its age at times, but it still appeared to work quite well. The Blu-ray provides excellent picture quality along with generally positive audio and bonus materials. The Blu-ray brings us a fine representation of a classic film. Starring Burt Lancaste

8. From Here to Eternity: Columbia Best Pictures Collection (1953)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (F)rom Here to Eternity fans face a potential dilemma. I think they’ll like this new transfer, but they’ll have to decide if they want the other movies as well; obviously no one will spend $135 just for one flick. Don’t expect miracles from the 2008 presentation, but it does offer a definite improvement over the earlier transfer. Starring Burt Lancaster,

9. The Last Time I Saw Paris [Blu-Ray] (1954)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a relationship drama, The Last Time I Saw Paris never digs into its characters well. The story lacks motivation and fails to develop into anything compelling. Starring Elizabeth Taylor, Van Johnson. Warner, $21.99, 7/25/2023.

10. They Were Expendable [Blu-Ray] (1945)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When They Were Expendable focuses on action, it provides a lively affair. Unfortunately, too much of the film concentrates on trite, dull character moments, and these make the end result mediocre. Starring Robert Montgomery, John Wayne. Warner, $21.99, 6/7/2016.
