1. Against All Odds (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An attempt to update the film noir genre, Against All Odds works to a moderate degree, but that’s the best I can say. While it delivers decent entertainment, it never becomes anything memorable. Starring Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward. Sony, $14.98, 12/14/1999.

4. Videodrome: Criterion Collection (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With conspiracies, snuff films and all sorts of freaky stuff, Videodrome stands out as a weird piece of work. Happily, the efforts coalesce to create a challenging and vivid film. Starring James Woods, Deborah Harry. Criterion, $39.95, 8/31/2004.

8. Straw Dogs [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although I don’t view the 2011 Straw Dogs as a bad film, it does seem fairly pointless. The ways it alters the 1971 original tend to neuter it and make it less effective. It still has some decent value as a standard thriller, but it lacks the same punch to the gut as the first one. The Blu-ray comes with good picture and audio as well as a set of supplem

9. Scary Movie 2 [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While not as terrible as its predecessor, Scary Movie 2 still left a lot to be desired. Its performers offered some decent work at times, but the film itself was largely a compendium of uninspired toilet humor. The Blu-ray offers pretty good audio and supplements but the visuals seem bland and mediocre. This is a passable Blu-ray for a pretty bad movie.

Personally, I think the movie has its moments and seems generally interesting, but it falls far short of honest greatness. Starring Robert De Niro, James Woods. Warner, $34.98, 9/30/2014.
