- 1. Yes Man: Special Edition (2008)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I like Jim Carrey and wanted to enjoy Yes Man, but the film disappoints. It can’t compensate for its flimsy premise with enough laughs to engage us ... Neither the movie nor the disc prove to be memorable. Starring Jim Carrey, Zooey Deschanel. Warner, $34.99, 4/7/2009.

- 2. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (Deluxe Double Feature) (1994)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ace Ventura Pet Detective established Jim Carrey as a movie star. In retrospect, I can’t figure out why, as it presents him in the most obnoxious light possible. The flick generates the occasional laugh but annoys much more than it entertains. Starring Jim Carrey, Courteney Cox. Warner, $19.97, 9/5/2006.

- 3. Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events: Collector's Edition (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I don’t think Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events consistently fires on all cylinders, as some awkward episodic plotting and too much focus on guest actors makes it a bit jerky at times. However, a strong lead performance from Jim Carrey and a delightful cynical tone mean that it usually entertains. Starring Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep. Paramoun

- 4. Dumb And Dumber [Blu-Ray] (1994)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With three hit movies, Jim Carrey was the breakthrough success of 1994, and Dumb & Dumber capped the year with the biggest moneymaker of the bunch. I don’t think it’s the most satisfying of the three, but it has enough amusing moments to make it reasonably entertaining despite its inconsistencies. Starring Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels. New Line, $14.97, 12/6

-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Look up the definition of “passable family entertainment” and you’ll probably find a picture of Mr. Popper’s Penguins. It comes across as wholly tolerable and occasionally enjoyable but never remotely inspired. The Blu-ray gives us excellent picture as well as pretty good supplements and audio. This is a decent flick that never leaps to a higher level. S

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After a few crummy Dr. Seuss adaptations, I had low expectations for 2008’s Horton Hears a Who!. Happily, the flick proved to be pretty entertaining. It remained reasonably true to its source and provided a nice piece of entertainment ... Both the DVD and the movie satisfy; this stands as a good piece of family fun. Starring Jim Carrey, Steve Carell. Fox
