Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Maybe if I’d been of stoner age in the 1970s I’d better understand the appeal of Cheech and Chong. Alas, I was born too late and find myself perplexed by their continued popularity. Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie packages a lot of their old routines into cartoon form with generally unfunny results. The Blu-ray delivers excellent visuals as well as goo

2. Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke: Special Collector's Edition (1978)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I guess Up in Smoke counts as a kind of comedy classic, but if you remove it from its particular era and scene, I don’t think it remains funny. Sure, the flick offers a smattering of decent laughs, but I don’t find enough amusement on display to make it worthwhile. Starring Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong. Paramount, $14.98, 9/4/2007.

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With 1000 times the budget of El Mariachi, Robert Rodriguez created a sequel that didn’t match up to the original. Desperado has its moments, but overall it feels forced and like everyone involved tried too hard to impress us. Directed by Robert Rodriquez. Columbia, $19.95, 8/26/2003.

6. The Lion King 1 1/2 [Blu-Ray] (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: It never equals the heights of the original, but The Lion King 1 ˝ nonetheless offers one of Disney’s strongest direct to video pieces. The movie seems light and irreverent as it demythologizes the original in a frisky and clever way. The Blu-ray presents excellent picture with generally good audio and a minor roster of supplements. Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Spy Kids is a lot of fun, and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It seemed warm, engaging and surprisingly exciting. The Blu-ray offers good sound and supplements plus inconsistent but acceptable visuals. The picture issues are a little disappointing, but the Blu-ray’s still the best representation of the movie I’ve seen. Starring Alexa Vega,

10. The Lion King [Blu-Ray] (1994)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... The Lion King would earn my recommendation even if the Blu-ray included no supplements. The movie stands as one of Disney’s finest and contains to impress after 17 years.
