Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Spaceballs won’t go down as Mel Brooks’ worst movie, but that acts mostly as a reflection of the crumminess of the movies that followed it. Spaceballs provokes maybe two or three minor chuckles, but otherwise it leaves me shaking my head at all the wasted talent. Starring Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis. MGM, $29.98, 5/3/2005.

The Blu-ray presents positive picture and audio as well as some erratic extras. Uninspired,

- 3. Spaceballs [Blu-Ray] (1987)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Obviously I don’t recommend Spaceballs to new viewers, but should established fans pursue the Blu-ray? Probably. It includes virtually all the same extras as the 2005 Special Edition DVD, and it provides moderately superior visuals. It’s not a killer release, but it’s pretty good. Starring Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis. MGM, $29.99, 6/16/2009.

- 4. High Anxiety (Mel Brooks Collection) [Blu-Ray] (1977)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of Mel Brooks’ best films, High Anxiety provides a solid spoof of Hitchcock. The movie plays off the master director’s tendencies and hits the mark quite frequently. The Blu-ray provides decent to good picture and audio; it also features a few interesting supplements. At no point does this become a killer disc, but it’s the best release of High Anxie

- 5. History Of The World Part I (Mel Brooks Collection) [Blu-Ray] (1981)

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: History of the World Part I stands as a perfectly dreadful flick. If there's any fun to be found in this clunker, I must have nodded off during those scenes. The Blu-ray itself provides very good picture and sound along with some interesting extras. Unless you're an absolutely fanatical Mel Brooks fan, skip this one, as it isn't worth the effort. Starrin

- 7. Robin Hood: Men In Tights [Blu-Ray] (1993)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you want to find Mel Brooks’ worst movie, look elsewhere. If you want to find one of Mel Brooks’ five worst movies, however, Robin Hood: Men In Tights fits the bill. Uninspired, desperate and almost wholly lacking in cleverness, this one feels like a cheap attempt to capitalize on a then-recent hit. The Blu-ray provides pretty good picture and audio a

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Too inconsistent to really earn its status as a comedy classic, Blazing Saddles fires well at times. Many of its gags fall flat, but enough succeeds to make it generally amusing and lively. Starring Gene Wilder, Cleavon Little. Warner, $24.98, 5/6/2014.
