1. Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip [4K UHD] (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a standup comedy concert, Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip seems entirely, completely… okay. Pryor creates a moderately amusing set but not one that shows his immense talent at its brightest. Starring Richard Pryor. Sony, $30.99, 9/10/2024.

2. Superman III: The Motion Picture Anthology (1978-2006) [Blu-Ray] (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I certainly can’t recommend a movie as bad as SIII to anyone other than Superman die-hards. Should those who already own the original DVD get this one? Probably. It offers a minor picture quality upgrade along with a few supplements they’ll enjoy. Anyone without a serious interest in Supes should skip it, though. Starring Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor

4. Superman III (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The addition of some solid extras might have made Superman III a good package, but as it stands, the result is a dud. The movie itself had a few decent moments, but these were heavily outweighed by lame comedy and unexciting action ... Superman III should be left for the completists alone. Starring Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor. Warner, $19.98, 5/1/20

5. Stir Crazy [Blu-Ray] (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With two legends as its leads, Stir Crazy should’ve been a winner. However, it meanders too much and fails to use its acting talent as well as it should. Starring Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder. Image, $17.97, 1/24/2012.

6. The Wiz: 30th Anniversary Edition (1978)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Nostalgia can be a powerful thing, but it can only take you so far. Due to my fond childhood memories of The Wiz, I wanted to like it, but I couldn’t get past its myriad flaws to enjoy it. A few aspects of the flick succeed, but too much of it flops ... Though I expect this is the best home video rendition of The Wiz to date, it’s not a great release, an

7. The Wiz [Blu-Ray] (1978)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Nostalgia can be a powerful thing, but it can only take you so far. Due to my fond childhood memories of The Wiz, I wanted to like it, but I couldn’t get past its myriad flaws to enjoy it. A few aspects of the flick succeed, but too much of it flops. The Blu-ray boasts generally good picture and audio but it skimps on extras. This is definitely the best

8. King Kong: Peter Jackson's Production Diaries (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I’d recommend the Diaries for fans of Peter Jackson and/or his Kong remake, but I must admit the price tag causes some reservation. The Diaries retail for almost $40, and that seems like a steep price for this kind of set; something around $20 would be more appropriate in my opinion. If the material interests you, I think the package will please you, but

9. Boulevard Nights [Blu-Ray] (1979)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Whatever points Boulevard Nights scores for its then-groundbreaking depiction of a particular culture, it loses for its forgettable story and characters. Beyond its glimpse of East LA Latinos, the movie turns into a predictable snore. Starring Richard Yniguez, Marta Dubois. Warner, $21.99, 9/10/2024.

10. Avatar: Extended Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: This Collector’s Edition Blu-ray brings Avatar home in a highly satisfying manner. Like the original release, it boasts superb picture and audio, but unlike its home video predecessor, the CE packs a stunning roster of supplements. With three versions of the film and loads of additional materials, this must be the Avatar for fans to own. Written & Direct
