1. Ricky Gervais: Out Of England (The Stand-Up Special) (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In Out of England, Ricky Gervais scores a decent series of laughs. The show has definite ups and downs – particularly in its first third – but it comes with a reasonable number of funny bits and amuses much of the time ... England is worth a rent for Gervais fans, but I don’t know if it merits a purchase. Starring Ricky Gervais. HBO, $19.98, 3/31/2009.

2. The Invention Of Lying [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite a clever premise and a whole lot of talent both behind and in front of the camera, The Invention of Lying flops. It uses up most of its laugh lines in its first 10 minutes, and it proves tedious as it rehashes the same gags again and again. The Blu-ray provides average picture, audio and extras. I can’t even recommend Lying to Ricky Gervais fans,

4. Ghost Town (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ghost Town probably should have been a dud. It features a fairly predictable story with the potential to get bogged down in cheap sentiment. However, it manages to overcome its pitfalls with a nice balance of clever comedy and believable emotion ... While this doesn’t stand out as a stellar DVD, I like the movie and recommend it. Starring Ricky Gervais,

5. Extras: The Complete Series (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While completists will want to have it, they won’t be happy to spend $50 MSRP for the privilege. HBO shouldn’t force the series’ biggest fans to shell out so much money for one DVD; the “Finale” really needs to get a solo release. I like the “Complete Series” for folks new to Extras on DVD, but if you already own any of the prior releases, save your mone

7. Extras: The Complete First Season (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Season One of Extras offers so much fun that I can’t wait to dig into Season Two. The series skewers the film industry and delves into the lives of its characters with warmth and great humor ... Though this isn’t exactly a demo release, the shows itself are more than entertaining enough to deserve your attention. Starring Ricky Gervais, Ashley Jensen. HB

9. Extras: The Complete Second Season (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Extras ends its (intentionally) short run with Season Two. If forced to pick, I’d say I prefer Season One, but S2 offers plenty of good material and seems very satisfying. As for the DVD, it offers perfectly decent picture, audio and supplements. The package doesn’t dazzle, but the show is definitely good enough to encourage my recommendation. Starring R
