1. Mystic River: Deluxe Edition (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Many thought Mystic River deserved to win the Best Picture Oscar for 2003. I didnít, but I nonetheless found a lot to admire about this well-executed movie. It depicts a complex character tale adeptly and benefits from restrained storytelling and excellent acting. Starring Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon. Warner, $39.98, 6/8/2004.

2. Dr. No [Blu-Ray] (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should folks who already own the Ultimate Edition DVD pursue this Blu-ray? I think big-time Bond buffs will probably want to get it, but the DVD remains very satisfactory. I really like the Blu-ray, but I donít think it improves on the UE DVD enough to be a great upgrade, especially with its $34.98 retail cost. Starring Sean Connery, Ursula Andress. MGM,

3. Dr. No: Ultimate Edition (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should folks who already own the prior release pursue this Ultimate Edition? Yes, since the new version offers vastly improved picture and audio. The extras donít get much expansion, though, as the setís exclusive bonus features arenít anything special. The new transfer makes this one a winner. Starring Sean Connery, Ursula Andress. MGM, $89.99, 12/12/20

5. Never Say Never Again: Collector's Edition (1983)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I donít find much to recommend from this drab Bond ďadventureĒ, though at least this DVD gives the movie good treatment. It improves on the picture and audio of the 2000 release, and the extras add real value. Still, I canít advise any folks other than Bond diehards to grab this sucker. Starring Sean Connery, Klaus Maria Brandauer. MGM, $19.98, 3/24/2009

6. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Extended Edition of the film adds a half an hour of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut. The Blu-ray boasts excellent picture and audio along with a thorough, nearly exhaustive set of supplements. Itís too bad this release doesnít feature an option to watch the the

7. Dr. No (1962)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... the cast and basic stage are set in Dr. No, and the formula was created for a terrific series of action movies. Not all Bonds have been great, but I've yet to see one I'd call bad; even the worst are still fun on some levels. Dr. No doesn't remotely approach the bottom of the Bond barrel; even after more than 40 years, it remains an exciting and well

9. Blade Runner: 4-Disc Collector's Edition (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: That leaves the debate between the two-disc and four-disc releases. Both have their merits, especially since its $20.99 MSRP makes the two-disc set the bargain of the year. But I think this four-disc version will be the one preferred by most fans. At $34.99, it remains reasonably priced, and it packs in more than enough good extras to make it worthwhile.

10. Blade Runner: 5-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Iím glad I got the UCE, as I think itís a nice set, and Iím enough of a completist that it was worth it to me. However, itís just too damned expensive to be worthwhile for most people. The fifth DVD is the only real attraction, as the non-disc-based materials are a bit of a joke. Is it worth an extra $44 for one DVD and some cheap toys? For 99 percent of
