Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Do I prefer the director’s cut to the theatrical release? No - if I wanted to watch one, I’d probably stick with the “PG-13” cut.

- 35. Transformers: Dark of the Moon [4K UHD] (2011)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With 2011’s Dark of the Moon, the Transformers franchise continues with a film that offers a virtual carbon copy of its predecessors. The movie occasionally musters decent action but seems too silly and disjointed to succeed. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Paramount, $22.98, 9/30/2011.

Had it at least followed its clichés and predictable material in a satisfying way, I’d have enjoyed it, but it seems dull and never does anything to entice the viewer’s interest. Starring Samuel L. - 40. SWAT: Firefight [Blu-Ray] (2011)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: No one will ever mistake SWAT: Firefight for an action classic. Nonetheless, it overcomes a mix of clichés to become a fairly entertaining action flick that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The Blu-ray presents very good picture and audio but lacks significant supplements. Action fans will probably enjoy this insubstantial but lively enough movie. Star
